Many ads are very powerful! If it help just one person quit, it is worth it :) Josie, Health Educator

Since I don't own a TV and only catch a bit at work or while visiting someone, maybe I'm not as desensitised as many folks who watch the tube every day.... I saw a really excellent antismoking ad just the other day, here in Canada we have explicit pics of the harmful affects of smoking (some worse than others)right on the pack. Anyway one of the pics on the pack is of mouth cancer, and I've heard all kinds of ewww gross comments from people who see the pic... Well this commercial starts with a close up of the pic on the pack and it starts to talk and says 'if you think looking at a picture of mouth cancer on a pack of cigarettes is hard...' the camera backs up a bit revealing a real person talking about the effects of smoking and she talks about chemo and radiation and then she ends with 'if you think quitting smoking is hard. Not quitting is harder.' It's a total kick ash ad and it makes me glad that I quit whenever I see it...you can feel a shudder go around the room amoung the smokers. Who else out there has seen a powerful stop smoking ad and what makes you stand up and take notice?
