Hey Judy I kinda know where you live, don't even think about it!! Seriously, you have come so far. I know just what you are talking about, that junkie likes to have his way. He started in my pee brain about three weeks ago. He went on and on and on. Boy it is hard to fight, but then we are fighters, right? YES WE ARE!!! Judy you can get passed this I know you can. Grab hold of our hands and we will walk though this together. Dearest Penguin, I believe you can fly. I remember how hard it was for you in the beginning, and then you began to fly. Some hard days are to be expected, and especially around the 1 year mark, which you are extremely close to achieving, but remember flying instead. You know that I speak from experience when I say that smoking only adds addiction back into your life, it doesn't make anything better. When I went back to smoking I only felt disgust for myself, and you don't want to feel that, believe me. All I ever did when I smoked was think about quitting. So now we have quit, let's make this our final quit, and only think of smoking occasionally instead of thinking of quitting all the time while killing ourselves slowly and painfully. Love you bunches, ParrotLady/N2Psych/Denise My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/9/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,480 Amount Saved: $370.00 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 2 Mins: 52 Seconds: 53

Pen, in all likelyhood, you have been very busy with that new job and family responsiblities and now Easter, when was the last reward you gave yourself??? When we were smoking we rewarded ourselves with a fix every twenty minutes or so. We were indeed in withdrawal all the time. It's time to give yourself a pat on the back, like a hot bath tonite, or a trip to the store tomorrow, or a bit extra chcolate today. You've been working too hard! Relax on this holiday, have a glass of wine and unwind for a change! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 384 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,600 Amount Saved: $4,051.20 Life Gained: Days: 50 Hrs: 10 Mins: 28 Seconds: 36

Judy Penguin-Friend, good job at identifying all the possible reasons why. I have watched you valiantly battle your way to this point -- 254 days, more than 5 THOUSAND not smoked, nearly $3,000 not spent. I know the strength that you gathered to get this far will not fail you now. That prison that you mention...that's the prison of addiction, my friend, not the prison of kicking the addiction. Instead, focus on the freedom that you have given yourself and the role model for that fine little boy. I'm proud of you, he is proud of you, and Deb is right, you are the model for your father right now. Hang in there, Judy. Hi Penquin, Your my July quit buddie and I think it is all the things you mentioned that cause craves. Mostly it is the fact that we are addicted to nicotine and the addiction takes every opportunity to try to get us back. Grab on to my hand and we will keep hanging in there.((hugs)) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 263 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,260 Amount Saved: $1,052.00 Life Gained: Days: 35 Hrs: 10 Mins: 13 Seconds: 10

Thanks for your words of encouragement. They have helped me realize just how irrational I am thinking right now. I think that is partly coming from the fact that since I started this new job 3 weeks ago, I have felt like I have been drowning, just barely coping from moment to moment. In that time I have been beating back the craves, because basically I just haven't had time to give those thoughts any attention, until today. So yes, I am feeling deprived, and have realized that it has been quite some time since I looked at quitting in a positive light ie what I have gained, and also some time since I reward myself for getting this far. I had a previous quit that lasted 107 days, and I was thankful to get past that marker. But since about 120 days, it's been one long Blah week. Not here, not there...wondering just when I can let myself out of this prison, but dreading that fact if I did. 254 days would be a lot to give up and I would be kicking myself as soon as I did. Back to treating myself with TLC, and getting through this rough period. Done it before...just feels like you've been at it forever, sometimes. Thanks for your support. Don't cave to the crave, Penquin. Make that decision for today, and see what tomorrow brings. You are such an inspiration to us all with your amazing quit. You have struggled to get to this point, don't slip today. Hang in there, Penguin. The junkie is loud and demanding at the moment, and becoming desperate to make you listen! Been there. And sometimes it seems almost impossible to get away from his attack. But you can do this! Back to one step at a time, and the deep understanding that: THIS TOO, SHALL PASS Thinking of you, and make sure to stay close.
