Jon, you just hang on to your quit in the face of all your other problems. Work hard at getting some kind of visitation rights ... maybe get legal help from a pro bono outfit ... even big law firms do some pro bono publico work... Let us know how you're coping with all that stress ... jon, If the numbers are right, then you are not far from one year quit! Don't shove this aside, as smoking will not improve anything. Take it one day at a time and know that we are here for you. Take a look at the above advice and keep it close :) Josie, Health Educator

Okay Jon, no soft soap from me. You are in a dangerous place right now and the way you react to it could shape the rest of your life. It is tough, very tough; you have lost your family and home and soon your job, possibly. Thank God you still have your health. With two of your three vital keys damaged, your health is the anchor that can help you repair them and bring you through. Smoking will seriously jeopardise the one vital key you have left and then where will you be? Well down the slope to oblivion! New homes can be found, new relationships forged, new jobs gained. Lungs, heart and mental health? I'll leave you to ponder that one. I'm sorry you are where you are right now but that is exactly where you are and only you hold the key to your own survival. It can be done, I know that. Beyond your wildest dreams, life can be better than it was yesterday. I know that too. I wish you well at this very difficult time and leave you with these two facts. Firstly, you have it within you to overcome your present difficulties and live a happy and fulfilling life. Secondly, smoking will not help you right now smoking will NEVER help you. My Sincerest Best Wishes Penitent

Jon - wow - you've got a lot on your plate. There's alot of advise in here already that i second, and I just wanted to let you know that you're going to be alright, and nothing lasts forever. Best of wishes to you, and for the possible outcomes on all fronts! Jon, I'm sorry things are so rough for you right now. It jsut proves what we've said. Crappy things hapen to non-smokers, too. And you are a non-smoker, Jon. You will get through this and you will do the best you can for your stepson & yourself. You'll get another (better?) job, you'll work out the best deal you can with your ex & you'll carry on with your life. Hopefully, your stepson will be in it & you will have shown him that addiction is not the answer to hardship & he will remember that lesson when he's offered a smoke. All the best to you, Jon. I know you can do this. sorry you're going through such a rough time, jon. You know deep down that smoking will not change anything, right? And that trying to hasten the end of your life by smoking is not a good idea either, right? (read my HOF story - been there, done that-didn't work). Since you have spent 5 yrs with your stepson, most likely the courts would consider putting in place a visitation schedule for you guys, based on what's called "presumed parenthood". I wish you the best, buddy. {{{hugs}}} My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 346 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,840 Amount Saved: $2,352.80 Life Gained: Days: 48 Hrs: 21 Mins: 54 Seconds: 15
