16 years ago 0 130 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi there when i first quit i had fatigue i would say it last between one and 2 months it will pass and like other post here the best advice is to rest i also felt very depressed around the 30 day mark believe me keep going forward and this will all lift this is part of the symptom of giveing up, rest when you can and drink plenty of water this will all pass My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 338 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,760 Amount Saved: 1,723.80 Life Gained: Days: 31 Hrs: 7 Mins: 10 Seconds: 38

Yes, I'd say that I've heard lots of folks complain of fatigue during the early stages of quitting. For me, I'd say that it lasted about two months. Take good care of yourself and get plenty of rest. It will get better! A lot of quitters complain about Fatigue. I was the opposite when I quit and couldn't seem to sleep more than 4 hours at a time. Do what you need to do, just don't smoke. An important thing to remember is that all you are going through right now is just temporary. It will not last forever. Your body is still adjusting to not having nicotine. Take one day at a time and push when you can; stop when you have to. It IS ok! Jewlsey fatigue is very normal, most people on here have described it in one form or another. Basically you have removed a stimulant from you system and now your system is trying to figure out how things are done naturally again. As soon as your body has it all figured out and is running again the way nature designed it you will not only be less tired but you will also have more energy than before your quit. Like you have been told depends on each individual so it is difficult to say when but you will get there. Best of luck with your quit My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/6/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 28 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 980 Amount Saved: $364.00 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 21 Mins: 8 Seconds: 21

Jewlsey, If you're experiencing fatigue, try drinking plenty of water and make sure to eat the daily recommended amounts of fruits and veggies. Members, do you have any other suggestions for Jewlsey? Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

Hi there, yes, fatigue is very normal. Quitting smoking is hard work, so it's no wonder you feel tired. Rest when you need to--be good to yourself. Walking is a great way to boost your endorphins and grow your energy, so do it whenever you can, even for ten or fifteen minutes. No one can say how long it will last because everyone is different, but please know that it will pass. Good luck! Cigarettes Not Smoked

I am finding myself extremely tired. Before I quit, I was walking on a regular basis but the last couple of weeks or so, all I want to do is sleep. I have no motivation to exercise and I am terrified that I'm gaining weight. I quit smoking to take control of my life - but I feel like now I have no control over how tired I feel. I am a naturally positive person but it's making me a bit depressed. I am using the patch - don't know if that is relevant. Has anyone else experienced fatigue? how long will it last?
