I really don't have any idea what kind of strategy for the ride home. I have mints in the car. I took the ashtray out.

Goofy, You are doing good. You have not caved in. Try to have something to help you cope on the drive home, like ice chips or some hard candy. You can do this!! After only 72 hours, the nicotine is completely out of your system, and then hell week is all downhill from there! I am excited for you for the decision you have made to quit. so goofy, What have you prepared in the way of coping strategies? For the ride home as well as other times? Thanks for the pep talk. Now it's almost 21 hours, but I'm not looking forward to the drive home.

All I can say is stay strong, one craving at a time. My initial quit date was Oct 15, I went 6 days without a smoke, then I resumed smoking for 5 days, and now I am back at it again. It is the hardest thing I have ever done, but it would be much, much harder if it were not for this network. Visit often, write often, get the feedback you need. You can do this, just think, you gone 20 hours, so you have already proven to yourself that you really don't need the cigarette. We have to convince ourselves that we are non-smokers. Good luck!
