Great job on a full day down, Goofy. Remember this day (not that you'll be able to forget it). But you you do want to remember so you'll never make yourself go through this day again. Day 2 is underway. Inch by inch it will get better. Hold on. Well, I got home from work. Didn't smoke in the car, but yelled at a few other commuters. Yelled at my daughter when I got home. 27 minutes for 24 hours smoke free. I hope she understands. Goof -- I know it doesn't help you right now, but you're supposed to feel bad at this point. We all do. The withdrawal is terrible....enormous. But, truly the only way to actually feel better is not to smoke. Do absolutely whatever it takes not to smoke today --> sleep, call a friend and go to the movies, indulge yourself in food, whatever it might take to get you through the next hour. I felt as if I was going to crawl out of my skin at first, but it does get better. Just make a decision that you're not going to smoke, NO MATTER WHAT. You can do it. Post here as much as you need to. Hang in there Goof, You can do this. If after all the years I smoked It didn't kill me to quit it wont kill you either. One day leads to two and so on. You just have to want to quit more than you want to smoke. ;p Too cute Aloha!! I love the new name you gave me!!! I was really struggling with how I was going to deal with Atlanta traffic when I quit, and my 15 year old son suggested I pass the time playing games with myself just like I do with him when we are on a long trip. Not only did I enjoy playing and working my brain, but it was also pretty cool to have his support. Okay Goofy, have you done the exercises here to find out the things that will help you cope the best for you? That helped me. A few other silly things that helps me on the road, because I am in the car for 3 hours total. I play the place game (where the last letter of place is the first letter for the next place, like florida to atlanta to austin), then the tag plate game, where I make sayings for the letters on the tag, like FFS 890 would be Finally Free of Smoking. I also quote a lot of scripture out loud, scream at the top of my lungs to good music, and I eat lots and lots of ice chips and suckers. Good luck..you can do this!
