Hey Danno, I just caught up with your progress!! You are going to feel so good, seriously, and you will smell awesome. There are so many positives. Something my John did, which helped alot, was to keep his reasons for quitting in his cig pocket, as a reminder. We both took chantix, that stuff rocks, makes it alot easier. Keep us posted. Danno, If you can stop without the meds, kudos to you! I was pissed that my insurance would not cover the $110/mo for Chantix, but its the cost of one pack a day! Hang in there and don't afraid to try the Chantix if it gets too rough solo. Well Hello to my sister-like friend! LOL! WOW! Strange stuff huh? Your right...maybe it IS a sign. I'm so glad you dropped me the message. So sorry to hear of your losses, but is great to hear that you both have stopped smoking! Thats fantastic! I found out the cost of the Chantix today, so I'm going to have to take the $$ saved per day from smoking, and put it toward the meds...if i don't quit before. It's around $100.00 here for a month. I also picked up the Allen Carr book today from the library, so I'll start on that tonight. I treated myself today to some life-savers candies, and some fruit flavored water. WooHoo! Party! LOL! Thanks again for the message. I appreciated you taking the time. It means alot that people offer support and encouragement. Thank you! Dan

Hello Dan! I'm a little late on the band wagon here, but I HAD to respond to your post. My favorite brother's name is Dan, he smoked 3-4 packs a day for 36 years, our father, grandparents, paternal uncles, aunts and cousins (9 in total) have died from cancer. Dan - are you my brother incognito? Nope - that can't be because he quit smoking 4 months ago! I could not believe the coincidence - so maybe it is a sign. You, like me and my brother, will be a quitter in no time! We both took Chantix and it worked great for us. He smoked a bit through his first few weeks on it, but he has been totally quit and is doing great. I am almost 1 month and swear by it. Just my opinion. Good luck to you and for my brother-like newbie, I hand you my favorite grape sucker! Welcome~! Hi Scott CR1, Thanks for the message! It is appreciated. Well, i'm still smoking, just not NEARLY the amount I was before. I went from 3-4 packs down to less than one a day. I'm still considering calling my doc to find some options. I'm on a meager budget being self-employed, so really expensive meds will be out. But hey....if I could afford all the smokes, i can afford some type of meds right? LOL! Thanks again for the pep talk! They help! Dan

Way to go Dan! I thought I would NEVER be able to quit but I did - on the third try. My doctor prescribed Chantix to kill the nicotine urge and it did work. Since you are not smoking now, probably too late to start the medication. If you do fall off the wagon, DO NOT give up. Most quitter have some missteps. I am clean for two months and not looking back at all and I feel great. Don't worry. I'm not gonna skip town. LOL! Was kind of hoping to be here long enough after my quit to help other newbies. Slow and steady does it for me. It's like when I write a piece of music. The idea for a song will just pop into my head, and then stick there. From there it is just a matter of getting the sounds I want blended together to achieve the song that was in my head. The idea to stop smoking has already popped and stuck in my head. Now it's just a matter of learning and blending the things into, or out of, my life that will achieve that sound/goal! Rest assured, you guys will be the first to know when I set THE day. Hope everyone is doing great! My day is starting good!

Don't ya just love libraries, Danno? I always feel so fortunate to live here in the good old USA, where almost any book we want to read is there for free. I think maybe everybody is waiting to hear your quit date. Not trying to rush you, but we all care a lot about those who are committed to quitting. Kind of hard sometimes when we've gotten invested in somebody's quit and then they just disappear, or worse, at least from my perspective, quit, but don't give it their all, then detail their slips, without any real commitment to quitting for real.....lol....that was a personal thing, for sure. Anyways......when the heck are ya gonna quit?????? For good? For real???? Not to rush you tho ;) -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 173 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,920 Amount Saved: $1,176.40 Life Gained: Days: 24 Hrs: 2 Mins: 57 Seconds: 8

Hi Bobbi! Thanks so much for your message and support! I love your closing line...Hugs,Prayers,Pixie Dust! I could use them all. LOL! 50 years smoking? WOW! You'll be one i want to keep up with then! I know this isn't going to be a breeze in any way, but at the same time, i don't want to build it up so big in my head that it's an obstacle that can't be climbed over. I know it can, and I plan to do it. Thanks again for message. It is appreciated. hope to hear from you again! Dan
