Chantix users - how did you feel?

lol Unhooked :) Niko, I went about 1 week with it before I quit. Right when you go to the two pills I think it is. I went by the instructions on the box. One of my coworkers was who also quit on day 7 but then slipped on day 20 and smoked one cigarette but has been smoke free ever since. SO 1 or two weeks probably doesn't matter but I would quit on week 1. WHAT IS VERY IMPORTANT is that you are truely commited BEFORE you quit. WRITE DOWN REASONS! This is important cause when you get cravings you think it is ok to smoke. Keep your reasons right where you currently keep your cigarettes. Trow away all ash trays and destroy remaining cigarettes with water. Quit first thing in the morning, try and sleep as late as possible that day. Drink plenty of water. Stay away from people who smoke as long as possible Visit SCC evey day. You can do it, not that hard. Staying quit is what is hard. Nico, I'm not a chantix user but I understand it's pretty important to stay away from ponies while you're taking it & for awhile after you've stopped. I think balconies and trampolines are OK. Congrats on your quit, Nico. Check in often! Hi Nico, I quit smoking after the first week of Chantix too, and it helped tremendously to launch me... I also took the questions and work book type activities offered with my Chantix prescription seriously until I found the SSC and all of you "real" people here:) I worked these programs too. Helps tons to get oriented and centered in your quit... About 2 hrs. ago a friend of our daughter's just learned how to ride a bike! We cheered and watched her practice over and over until finally, her feet moved perfectly and a huge smile happened across her face:) That's how I feel about my quit. Starting it was the hardest part. Keeping it seems easier each day I practice. My tools are basically the same, but using the knowledge base right here and the great body of real-time experience has been the greatest manual on how to do it effectively for me. I choose to be here when I can:) I am extra sensitive to Chantix, so I cut my dose in half for 2 weeks then stopped taking it. I experienced high anxiety about a week after that, so slowly started taking it again in small doses. I self regulate now, and sometimes go 3 or 4 days without it and feel just fine. It's just one of the little tools I can pull out right now if I feel I really need it. Come here often so we can cheer you on:) mk PS aloha, of course you're welcome to come to the Free State with me anytime:) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 300 Amount Saved: $75.00 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 3 Mins: 18 Seconds: 22

Hi Nico I quit after one week of chantix. I was ready and looking forward to it. Chantix was a God send for me, but I think equally important was the true desire to quit. This site was and is a very big factor in my quit as well. You know you can change your mileage. I think it is in Personal Profile or Support Group options. If you learned some things during your last attempt; about triggers, about coping strategies that work for you, then it wasn't a failure. I'm looking forward to sharing this journey with you. -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 165 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,600 Amount Saved: $1,122.00 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 1 Mins: 22 Seconds: 27

I have a question for the Chantix users. I was told by the doctor and read in other places that it is best to not try to completely quit until you are on Chantix for 2 weeks. The Chantix package and their support site say 1 week. If one week, tomorrow is my quit day. My smoking has decreased in the past few days a lot and I have had no major side effects. Did most of you quit after one week or two? Thanks in advance for your help. It took me a couple weeks to completely normalize after taking the Chantix. Then another 2 until I was actually happy again. Hang on to the extra's Scott. Ask your doctor if it is okay but for me I remember that I had to take 1/2 pill one day to combat some anger and tension. Now I have absolutely no cravings at all, and no desire to smoke.(except for ribs in the smoker!) When I smell someone who recently smoked I am appauled, it is so disgusting! When I smell a distant cigarette just being lit I think it smells pretty good. I admit to that cause even when I was a kid I liked the smell of a cigarette just being lit. Being in a crowded room with smokers is aweful! I will leave, even when I was a smoker I only wanted the smoke from my own cigarette. I would even book a non-smoking room at the hotel and go out on the balcony or down to the bar to smoke. I recently discovered that two co-workers that took Chantix are still smoking (and still on the Chantix) they are on 5th month. One says he is proud that he has gone from 2 packs a day to 2 smokes a day. I personally think that statement is a cop out. I firmly believe in the N.O.P.E (Not One Puff Ever) technique. I am 7 weeks into chantix and SMOKE FREE for 5 weeks. It has really worked for me. So, I plan to ween off after 10 weeks - to one pill a day for the last week. What is everyone's experience getting off Chantix? Does the urge to smoke come back? Right now I can't imagine having another cigarette - EVER! My wife and I are now done with the Chantix and Smoking! I took chantix for 10 weeks, Sue took it for 11 week. It took about 2 weeks for me to normalize. First off the Chantix I had a bit of a TEMPER!! ... But my head cleared and concentration improved. Then I started up on an exercise regiment and felt even better. I wish now I didn't gain 15 lbs when I quit but other than that we are doing well. "Smoking is pathetic" My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 112 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,800 Amount Saved: $392.00 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 6 Mins: 42 Seconds: 3
