I too fear all new drugs and become a book worm or rather an internet bug to try and find out everything about it. Than when the symptoms/aide effects come I don't know whether they are real or self composed to feed what I have read.
I have been doing pretty good till recently (within past 24 hours due to flu). A few weeks ago I had a bout with what was a kidney infection and possible kidney stone. I hate hospitals and was in the er where I have been many a time following severe attacks. I was freaking when they wanted to give me an IV. I got calmed down about that and than they said something about a drug and I got severly anxious again and literally would not let the corpsman inject it into my IV without a thourough discussion on the effects of it. Turned out it was just a high dosage liquid motrin for my severe pain.
That night I was sent home with vicodin for the pain and I never took it. Feeling that if I did it was going to make me comatose with the clonazepam I take daily.
Hey,
I have a fear of meds aswell, and i can relate to what people are saying. It does make you feel bad, but i didnt wait around to see if it got better and took myself off them! I've managed nearly 2 years without meds now, and i do NOT regret it! I'm doing it meds free and i'm going well! I've got better and took control on my own, but hey, everyone is different...
All i can say is... dont do what i did! Always consult your doctor first

You're not alone Rebecca.....a doctor I had several years ago told me to stop reading every detail about every med I'm prescribed. I use to read about a symptom or side affect then I lo and behold I was sure to get it....its called "the power of suggestion." I took his advice and just let the meds do their job.
A very interesting thread!
I have never had meds for my condition but for almost any other med I take that is new or I haven't taken in a while I get panic over. Antibiotics, muscle relaxers, you name it.
I think my problem is though that I am compulsive about learning every single possible side effect to anything that enters my body.
Amy,
Call your doctor or better yet, the pharmacist. They will be able to tell you if it is an allergic reaction, side effect or perhaps it will take some getting used to. Remember, it never hurts to ask questions, and you need to be sure.
Let us know,
Josie
I just took a paxil for the first time today and ended
up with a major panic attack and needless to say i
was in the bathroom all day. I feel weak and tired
and out of body. Please...has anyone else had this
happen?? How do I get through this???? This
med is suppose to make me better but it is worse.
Thanks so much for your replies. Today is a really yucky day I am feeling ALOT of anxiety and just a few moments ago I started to have an Panic Attack ... now it's just down to a dull roar. I so appreciate being able to come here and read words of encouragement and to know, as much as I don't want you to be going through this, that others are going through the same thing and surviving. Thank you! Thank You! Thank You!
