Lady and everyone else who has had to fight off unexpected cravings - I've had those thoughts lately, too. What helps me is the realization that if I let myself have just 1 I will be right back caught in the midst of my addiction. There would be NO WAY I could just have one, so I have to have NONE! Be strong everyone! Lets all huddle under those covers. - Freemom My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 166 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,992 Amount Saved: $677.28 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 10 Mins: 46 Seconds: 22

I am grateful for understanding cold turkeys ;) for the beautiful views of the mountains that I get to enjoy every day. For the love that God has put in my life; for my children having a better opportunity to succeed; for my daughter and the blessing she is carrying; for not smoking; for friends; for non-smoking friends; and for all my quit buddies that make times like this so much easier. I am also grateful for the SSC and for the faith I have in God to take care of me no matter what. For me, this place has always been a Godsend. I'm also thankful that I have covers to crawl under on days like today. I can't to get home, curl up and go away for a while. Okay the tree house it is. But I have trouble climbing down. Not problem going up, but oh boy climbing down scares the heck out me :8o: Windy come join us, bring the nutty buddies, ok? I am so grateful for the health I have. I am grateful to feel without smoking. I am grateful for the freedom that a smoke free life style gives me. There are more, but you guys can add to them. Oh, dear Lady! I feel you're pain [sorry, bad Clinton impression]. I, too, have had smoking thoughts. Wouldn't you know, now that I'm out of the closet w/my quit. I didn't talk about it much at first (except here), afraid I'd go back to smoking and the embarrassment of admitting to friends and family that I'd failed would just destroy me. And that feeling is only stronger now. If I went back at this point it would pretty much relieve me of every ounce of self-respect not to mention permanently staining everything I've said and done to convince people of the awesome advantages of The Quit. Listen, I don't know if this would work for you but this is what I do when I get the odd smoking memory: I say to myself, "Self, remember that time when the after-taste of the cigarette was so bad you wondered why you even smoked it? Remember when you were so embarassed because you just knew you smelled bad and everyone around you knew it, too? Remember when you dug a half-smoked butt out of the planter and proceeded to smoke the nasty thing? Remember when the pediatrician, who examined your kid for the umpteenth time for ear infections, finally said just NOT smoking in the house was not enough; the smoke gets into your hair & clothes and giving your child a hug was making her sick?! Well, I'll stop now. I think I've talked myself out of smoking today. I better get back to work. Cold Turkeys have good memories. mc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/31/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 741 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,633 Amount Saved: $1,926.60 Life Gained: Days: 74 Hrs: 3 Mins: 39 Seconds: 38

Thanks for that, Sparky! We'll all be OK, bunch of tough quitters that we are! If you want to get in under the covers with windy, you go right ahead but you know everyone is always welcome at the tree house, too! Why don't we do some affirmations right here? I am grateful to have so many wonderful, caring people in my life. Lady I think you have a pretty good handle on all that your thinking and feeling. Sometimes we just have to admit that we are not Super Heroe's. We simply can't be in a thousand places at once, putting in 100% all the time, as much as we would like to. I know you are doing your best, but sometimes, best is to get in bed and cuddle the kids and indulge in some good old fashioned loving - of yourself. Take some time for you!
