thanks everyone. I am going to stay positive because I can only be negative if I let myself. I am in complete charge of that! HI Melissa, First of all I want to congratulate you on a great quit!! Time for a well deserved reward!! Secondly I wouldn't worry about what people have to say at work especially those concerned about the weight gain. This kept me from quitting for too many years and yes I gained weight but I can and am losing it. I noticed at work when people ask me about my quit what I really am hearing is " I didn't think she could do it", "oh crap she's stronger than I thought" "she's doing more work than me since she's not out on those smoke breaks" Most people at my job bet that I couldn't quit smoking. Some are envious some just stay away LOL Either way don't worry about it and smile because I bet some of the people at your job wish they were you!!! Keep up the quit and keep smiling!!! Melissa, I go through that at work. They come up to me and ask me about the Chantix. How much does it cost? Is it easy? Will I want to smoke? You know all the ususal questions and then they ask me if I have gained weight. I am very honest and I have gained 14 pounds and yes my clothes are tight and yes I have craves but I do not smoke and when the time is right I will take care of the weight gain too. So don't feel alone they are as scared as we were to take that final step and quit. Keep up the good work you are do for a reward :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,240 Amount Saved: $403.00 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 20 Mins: 22 Seconds: 25

You are smoke free and that is all that matters. I too have people ask me about using Chantix. I am not smoking that is all they need to know. When it is time to stop taking it I will stop and do what needs to be done to stay quit. We are doing it!!! This is something I recieved and thought I would share it with you and others. Supportive comments: Youre doing great Im so proud of you. Youre looking great. You inspire me. Im not going to smoke around you. Nonsupportive comments: You must be dying for a cigarette. I cant see how a couple of puffs a day will kill you. Do you mind if I smoke? Creating a supportive environment: If someone asks to smoke around you, politely say youd rather they didnt. Ask to sit in the nonsmoking section of a restaurant. If someone offers you a cigarette, say, No thanks, I quit. If someone puts an ashtray near you, move it away. If a smoker is visiting your house, ask them to smoke outside Keep the quit Sparky My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 220 Amount Saved: $66.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 1 Mins: 9 Seconds: 3

Carylene You are doing fantastic. Keep up the good work. Don't listen to the negative, usually when someone says something like that, they are jeleous that they can't do it right now, they are not ready. You keep doing what you are doing and you will be fine! Most people can't get out of their comfort zone long enough to see the better side. oh, it isn't here, everyone here is very supportive and really, just wow. I mean the people around me in life. But when I think about it they were the same people who basically told me that quitting nursing and becoming an accountant was a bad idea, and now look who has christmas and thanksgiving off. ha ha. I thought about it this morning and I think it is just people and when they see someone trying to change and do better, it makes them uncomfortable (all my friends smoke) and so they want to get back to their comfort zone. I am just going to pay no mind, just like when I was going back to school. And I am one month today! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 30 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,200 Amount Saved: $240.00 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 19 Mins: 21 Seconds: 8

Melissa, Everyone who hangs around here for any amount of time gets their toes stepped on once in a while. This is cyberworld and leaves a lot open for interpetation. I have offended people in the past as well, not intentionally of course. I have always said Take what you want and leave the rest. The point is to stay smoke free and do whatever it takes to make that happen. 29 days is fabolus!!!! You should be turning cartwheels and just as happy as you can be! What is your reward for making it through that first month????? Carylene My suggestion? Don't worry about it. Other people's thoughts/opinions have no effect on your quit. It is yours. Totally yours, no matter how you choose to do it. With chantix, with patches, standing on your head, swimming in circles in a pool, kayaking down a river, climbing a mountain, sipping margaritas in Mexico, whatever you choose...only you know what works for you..and obviously you do. Keep up the great quit -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 61 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,440 Amount Saved: $414.80 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 12 Mins: 42 Seconds: 24

These people wouldn't happen to be current smokers would they? If so, they are still looking for the 'magic bullet'. The one that means there is no effort or determination or thought process. Melissa - YOU are doing quit - the Chantix is just an aid. The most important part of staying quit is to understand the mental and emotional aspects....and that is what this site is for. Congratulations on your fabulous 29 days! Attitude is everything. ;) Lizzie :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/23/2003 Smoke-Free Days: 1490 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 22,350 Amount Saved: 6,705.00 Life Gained: Days: 149 Hrs: 0 Mins: 23 Seconds: 15
