Greger Looks at a Week

Atta boy, Greger Way to keep it positive. I sure dont mind reading about the gory details of a fine meal (as opposed to the gory details of a slip). Keep doing what you're doing..it seems to be working :) -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 154 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,160 Amount Saved: $1,047.20 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 12 Mins: 36 Seconds: 29

Today will be the Seventh day. I cooked for my girlfriend last night, there were olives and cheeses and fruits and veggies arranged on the table when she arrived, first time I ever got her to try papaya. Artichokes were to be on the menu but one of them was dried out a bit so I spread its petals and opened the whole thing up like a big flower and used it for a centerpiece. Corn on the cob became the vegetable, 'neeps an tatties, the starch, to accompany double-thick New York strips which were grilled over lump charcoal and served with a Petite Syrah from California. Dessert was Boston Creme cake with Peruvian decaf. Since it was a weeknight I had to keep the meal fairly simple but a good steak is always a great reward for a job well done. The triggers came along just as you might imagine, during the food prep, after each course, during our short walk between entree and dessert and when the meal was done and she drove away. They got nought but an ugly glare from Che'Greger as they were NOT welcome at MY party! My thanks go out to this forum and everyone on it, this quit has been a fairly easy one and part of the credit goes to this group, it's so much easier to cope with nicotine withdrawal when you know you aren't alone. My last quit, some years back, was, quite literally, the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, all previous attempts don't count as they were just practice for the big one and doomed from the start. Perhaps the second time you do the hardest thing you've ever done in your life it's not quite as hard as the first. My thanks also go out to Allen Carr, the British chain smoker who found a better way to do this. Bring 'em on! I'm Kickin' ash and takin' names!
