I did the math tonight when I felt the old urge, and figured that, conservatively, I have smoked 21,000 after meal cigarettes (2 x 365 days = 700+ x 30+ yrs = 21,000). So, it's no wonder that the urge hits. I don't want to smoke one, but it is just such a familiar association, that it is not surprising when it happens. My son said something about I should just not think about it. And I don't think about it, or dwell on it, it just happens. Like if you got hit in the head with an apple 21,000 times, each time after walking under a certain tree, I guess you'd kind of flinch when walking under that tree. I would guess that if you walked under that tree about 1,000 more times and didn't get hit with an apple, you would begin to not flinch anymore...maybe. Just trying to make sense of why. I'm sure that it will be different a year from now (365 x 2 = 700). -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 100 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,000 Amount Saved: $680.00 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 23 Mins: 2 Seconds: 16

thanks I needed that, there are several things I try to keep in mind but the one that seems to help me the most is when I take a really deep breath and I don't have to cough and sometimes it feels like I'm hyperventilating (I get a buzz) go figure.
