Yesterday was hell

I agree the smoking dreams are very common. I dream that I'm smoking a cigarette about 4 times a week. It's a bad feeling until I wake up and realize it was just a dream. :) I have days when I go without thinking about a cigarette. However, there aren't many. Usually after a meal is about the only time I think about them and get a very slight craving. Nothing serious, and the craving goes away in seconds. :) I'm sure you've heard this before. It does get a lot easier as time goes by I quit using the cold turkey method. However, I was severeley tested on days 88 and 89. I hadn't really craved a cigarette very bad in a long time. However, out of nowhere days 88 and 89 were tough. I had some very strong cravings those 2 days. I think it was more psychological than anything. I've always heard that their is a higher relapse rate around day 90. I don't know why. Your doing great. Just don't take another puff. The cravings don't last long. I will be honest. I believe I'm on day 128 or 129 of my quit. I'm not craving a cigarette right now. However, one would taste good. Yeah, I know that's junkie thinking. I guess what I'm trying to say is we are all nicotine addicts, and will be as long as we live. I know I can never take another puff or I'll be back smoking a pack a day within 2 weeks. That means for me if I smoke one now, or one year or even 7 years from now. I will be back smoking. Thanks for all your great comments. I seem to be having dreams now of smoking. So much so that in the morning sometimes I am not sure if I actually did have a cigarette. ashfree Good for you, teeth cleaning is always a good way to reinforce the effect for which you are striving. I know this is hard, but I also know that the way forward is to break the quit down into the smallest pieces possible. Sometimes that is seconds and sometimes it is hours, days and weeks. But whatever the time frame you are dealing with, the message to yourself remains the same. "SMOKING IS NEVER THE ANSWER"...An answer is supposed to makes things simple right? In fact smoking simplifies nothing...If anything it complicates your time on the planet by injecting other questions into your experience...Questions like, which one of these silver bullets is my ticket to an oncology ward? Do I have a cold today or is that congestion some symptom of excess moisture in the lungs due to a weakening of the cardio muscles? Am I encouraging my children to smoke if I do? You get the point...Smoking may satisfy an immediate need (avoidance, emotional comfort, support), but the longer view is that it augments the complexity of our intricate lives. By not smoking you are actually making your life a more singular and in many ways less complicated way of going. You should be very proud of your progress. It is a hard won measure of your allegiance to your own well being. In the end this is all about your wish to enhance the quality of your being. The evidence of your progress will always be your ability to recognize and reject the siren song of nicotine.
