Sleep Problems.

Had Enough, You're still fairly early in your quit and it isn't uncommon for sleeping disturbances to still be rearing their head. Again, keep working with your doctor. We also recommend you continue increasing your level of physical activity and following the tips above. Things such as going to bed and getting up at the same time every night will take a few days of practice before you brain starts to get the hint and cues in naturally. Hoping the sandman is on his way! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

I started waking up tired BEFORE I went off Chantix. Just started happening the past few weeks. I thought that after I would feel better. No difference. I think the reason I feel so tired is due to the weight gain and think the aerobics will help. Do you exercise and did you gain weight after you quit? My Dr wanted me to quit smoking but urged me to start exercise regiment first. (I didn't) Sue, I like the other photo of us better, this one you have now is when we were smokers!!! :8o: My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 69 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,725 Amount Saved: $241.50 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 17 Mins: 29 Seconds: 34

I posted about this to see if any other X-Chantix users had this problem. As I said in the original post, I quit taking it 2 weeks ago. I've been Chantix free for over 2 weeks now and still have sleep problems. As I said in a previous post, my doctor doesn't have a clue as to why I still have sleep problems. He told me to buy some benydril and take it before bedtime to see if that helped. I really just want to know if what is happening to me with the sleep problems is happening to anyone else who took Chantix then quit taking it. If my situation is unique then it must not be the Chantix that is responsible for my sleep problems. If others have had this problem AFTER QUITTING Chantix then it's something that needs to be addressed. Had, It does take time for your body to adjust to anything different you may be doing. Unfortunately we are unable to give out medical advice or prescribe medications. Push forward with your doctor to get the answers that you need. Take the ideas given and try them one at a time, it may not happen overnight, but it will happen :) Josie, Support Specialist

I originally quit with patches with all sorts of sleep disturbances (dreams that woke me; a lot of unrest...) I later quit with the aid of Chantix and experienced it all over again. I do believe that the dreams and restlessness is simply a side effect of quitting. Not attributed to one aid or another. I stuck with the Chantix and worked thru the upset tummy and sleep probs and found it to be a very effective aid. I think weird dreams and that night-time restlessness is simply a nicotine withdrawel effect since I have eperienced it on several different quits with varying aids. It happens cold turkey also! Hey Hadenough, It may not be just the Chantix. A lot of us had sleep disturbances whether using an NRT or not. The thing is, yes, it should be better by now. But seeing that smoking also masks problems is the reason why you should see you Doc. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 127 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,175 Amount Saved: $1,339.85 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 14 Mins: 42 Seconds: 56

Danielle, I've done everything you have listed. I'm on the verge of taking an OTC sleep med. I don't want to but I will if I have to. I tried calling the Pfizer, Chantix help line. That place is useless. They've installed people who haven't got a clue as to what Chantix is and how it is administered. They apparently go by a "playbook", if patient says this go to page 28, if patient says this go to page 30 etc. The person I got kept talking over me and was not listening to what I was saying. It was impossible to have an intelligent conversation. After about 20 minutes of trying to explain to them what was going on and getting absolutely nowhere I said thank you and hung up. The insomnia is getting to be a serious problem. Doc doesn't have a clue either as to why I'd have insomnia after being off the drug for weeks. Its like it turned on some switch in my brain and didnt turn it off when I quit taking it. I think this is a serious side effect for some people that needs to be addressed. Before I took Chantix I had no problems what-so-ever sleeping.
