I had this problem for the first couple of months that I quit. I felt like I could not fully breathe in. Don't have the problem anymore. I chalked it up to healing. Hi Correen, We have a sister site that deals with panic disorder. Click here. Please keep in mind this is not a substitute for a professional diagnosis. Hope this helps. Danielle ________________________ The SSC Support Team

Correen, Your lungs are healing, however should symptoms persist or worsen, please consult your doctor. Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

When you think about all that tar and nicotine and formaldehyde and 397 other chemicals that we inhaled into our lungs for so many years, is it any wonder that it takes a while to clear that stuff out and heal ourselves? We really want our bodies to heal quickly, and it's true that the nicotine -- the addictive substance -- is gone in a few days (if we're not using NRT), but the rest of it takes a little while. Unless it persists or gets worse, think of it as healing. Correen, I had a similar thing...it wasn't exactly like wheezing or being out of breath, but more like a feeling that I needed to take a deep breath. Deep breathing is always a cleansing for your lungs...you might try controlling them, like six counts in, hold for a second and then five counts out. Marie is right though...if it persists, check with the doc.
