Hi fullhse, We all sympathize with you. Quitting nicotine is a bit#@. Maybe you need to reevaluate your quitting plan. Are you using any NRT? Can you start the day by reading something about nicotine addiction and how to become free? This could cement your committment to being smoke free for that day. It is alot of work; but what is the alternative? A life long addiction to nicotine; enslavement to cigs; systematically destroying your heart and lungs. None of us want that. We are between a rock and a hard place. But, the good news is that you can do it. YOu need to believe that. I say, when you are ready, re think your quitting plan, re committ yourself, and travel the road to freedom. Keep coming here and getting support. You can take back control of your life. My heart goes out to you. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 120 Amount Saved: $25.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 15 Seconds: 1

Hi There Fullhse06-----You are not alone on your stuggle for being smoke free....many many people around the world want to quit but can't let go of the addiction...Remember to tell yourself over and over and over again that you will not be addicted to nicotine any longer...You will be free! I struggled so many times wanting to quit and then wanting to have just one and then went back to smoking. Remember the way you feel and see yourself as a smoker and if need be write it all down so that you can reread it to yourself and/or picture it in your mind....( I don't want to see a 60 year old woman in the mirror when I am only 40! I don't want to be on an oxygen tank or take breathing medication everytime I get sick---even when I smoked a cig.(What a sight that is---in my left hand an inhaler in my right a smoke).....see what I mean about pictures in your head? You can do this...take it one day at a time...one minute at a time...one second at a time....whatever you need to get through it...you can get through it! x ponytails My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/24/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 37 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 740 Amount Saved: $166.50 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 1 Mins: 11 Seconds: 38

Fullhse When you lift weights and you want to go up a notch...How do you do that? Do you not do 1 more rep than your mind says your body can do, or do you not add just a slight more weight than your mind says your body can lift? When I train I try to put myself in a place I have never been before. For me this is how I cause my body to adapt and become stronger. I am choosing to enter the "zone of adaptation". My mind however always tells me I cannot do this...However since my soul urges me onward, I do it anyway... The point is that ending our addiction is not a logical process. It is a process of change. For the mind it is logical to not change because this is the "safe position"...this is the comfortable place... Step back from this a bit and try to understand what you are doing. You are reaching through a barrier that your mind says you cannot break...We are addicts...stone cold junkies on a nicotine dream...We are changing that and change is scary for the mind, because we seek safety and safety is what we know...Your mind wants the whack, smack and jingle your body gets from a hit of nicotine...Your soul knows this is destroying your body and therefore destroying the only home that your soul knows at the moment. Try to hear your soul and ignore your mind and break through to the other side of things... Nicotine is what it is...In order to leave it behind, you must change, because nicotine cannot, it will always be what it is. You however are free to become anything you want to become. If I had a wish I could make come true for you, it would be that you become a non-smoker. Sadly, wishes are flights of fancy, life is in the doing and YOU CAN DO THIS... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 157 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,710 Amount Saved: $1,099.00 Life Gained: Days: 28 Hrs: 16 Mins: 6 Seconds: 37

Okay Fullhse, Let's be real. We have all been exactly where you are. We all smoked, we all knew we wanted to quit "after this (cig, pack, carton, etc)". But, we didn't until we made the committment to quit, and never smoke again. Everyone will have a different reaction to a quit, so be prepared for anything. My friends here will tell you about their coping mechanisms, and how they solved the 'oral' thing. It's all very good advice, and something will click and work for you. Me? I just ate chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate. I am paying for that now with some extra baggage, but I'll lose that eventually. Read a lot, learn a lot, and post a lot. It's amazing how much it helps. I am one of many who literally lived on this site for the first couple of weeks. One day, one hour, one minute at a time....just don't smoke. I've been right where you are, feeling the exact same way. In the early days, it helped me to remember that each time I said "NO!" my no got stronger and the nicotine got weaker. Another thing I did was give myself permission to smoke only after I had posted here at SSC and heard back from somebody. While I was waiting for replies, I would tool around and read stuff, like about Joe Cool. By the time I was done, I was past the crave. You can do it!!! You really can. Believe in yourself, you DO have the power to quit. fullhse, Do you want to stay quit? Do you really? Make a list of all of the reasons why YOU want to stay quit. Then, make a plan for what you will do INSTEAD of smoking. The only way to get to a point where you're comfortable in the quit is to NOT smoke. I know that's hard to get there, but if you really want to stay quit, then you'll do whatever it takes. Just don't give up trying! We're here to help! Crave the Quit!
