really believing that not smoking is a better lifestyle

freebird, I really wasn't offended. I wondered if you thought that I developed a positive attitude in my meager 13 days quit. As you know, it took much more time than shows on a quit meter. And "as little" as 10-20 pounds. i would be thrilled to lose 5! You must be dropping the pounds from working out so much. And, you are coming up on 9 months with NOPE. that is so wonderful. I'll get there. i am just glad that today, i did not smoke. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 312 Amount Saved: $65.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 21 Mins: 59 Seconds: 44

New Me, that is what I am trying to say about overnight success. Sometimes other people see someone become successful at something quickly and they think it's an overnight success. Yet those people never realize the trials and tribulations of the behind the scene struggles that we go through in order to be successful. They don't see the hardwork, ups and downs that we go through or went through. It's like when someone is losing weight or working out. When you see the same people day in and out, the don't see the gains or losses in the incremental stages. Yet you go out and see someone you haven't seen in awhile, and they notice quickly that there is a difference in you as little as 10-20 lbs. So I am not trying to offend you on the attitude, I am trying to compliment you that through the struggles and the processes that you are going through you have hung in there and not given up and maybe I didn't word it quite right. Basically it could take 3 years of hardwork to become an overnight success. It's kind of and irony or sarcastic type saying. Keep it up! Hi freebird, The gym is a much healthier addiction! I guess the closest activity I have to a new addiction is reading. BTW, I have been at this quitting process for 2 years, so I would not call my attitude an overnight success. It has taken me two years of struggling, going back and forth from smoking to not smoking, every NRT invented by man and some of the nicotine free aids, much praying, and much reading to get me to this place in my life. It is about time that I realized the committment it takes to staying smoke free. (must be a slow learner!) Have a wonderful time in Myrtle Beach..I love vacations! new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 312 Amount Saved: $65.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 20 Mins: 33 Seconds: 45

Hats off to ya New Me. No tamborines, I'll just bang some pans together for you. The gym is my new addiction going about 5-6 times a week. Going to Myrtle Beach for vacation next week and I checked with the resort I am staying at and they partner with a gym a mile down the road I can go to for free. Keep it up. okay freebird, I know that there is NO overnight success in this journey to freedom from addiction. But, get out the tambourines! I took your advice and went to yoga class tonight at my gym. it was awesome. The more you do, the more you can keep doing. Like touching your toes. Maybe I'll get it together to do some exercise in the AM also. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 312 Amount Saved: $65.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 19 Mins: 14 Seconds: 32

Great attitude New Me. Yes it's excercise if you're using a 5 lb fork (lol). Remember it could take quite a bit of time, a lot of energy and determination before you become an overnight success in this quit. The journey you are on can be exciting if you want it to be, open your eyes to who you are in same situations but with new experiences. I know I am enjoying my journey and relearned and still learning who I really am. keep it up. Well Aloha and all, I am not exactly new to this quitting thing. I have been in the process of quitting for the past TWO YEARS! I would be smoke free for 2 months, then have one, the next day 4, then none again for 3 more weeks. I have been on this merry go round for 2 years. Thank goodness that i found this site. "Easy Way" also helped me quit a bit. I am finally changing my attitude and it has made all the difference. It is hard to describe. I reeally want to be done with this addiction. I don't want to put a cig to my lips. For the grace of God go I, but, from now on when I get a craving, I am not going to smoke; I don't care how I feel. AND I am going to be sooo happy about committing to this journey to truly becoming smoke free. Off to work. Thanks all new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 288 Amount Saved: $60.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 17 Mins: 19 Seconds: 0

I love that Anna, I can smoke, I just chose not to. That is a great mantra. And freebird, does lifting the fork from the plate in the morning count as exercise??? HA! I know, you are right; maybe a nice, brisk, 20 minute walk. So, thanks everyone. My youngest son graduated from high school tonight, so I am a little weepy. Life passes quickly. Let it pass smoke free. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 288 Amount Saved: $60.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 15 Mins: 56 Seconds: 5

OMG - it is sooooooooooooooo much better. Ride out the next few weeks and celebrate each passing day that you don't smoke. You may crave some but it is nothing that you cannot handle. If you want this, you can have it. Be strong and stay happy that you have learned to live without a smoke. You have made it 11 days and you haven't croaked yet! You are worth it.
