Hi mylast, your children are at the age that they got all of the anti-smoking education in school, right? Plus, i know if you were like me, I urged my children never to smoke. "Look what I am going through". I would tell them how addictive it was, etc. So,kids nowadays are making more of an educated choice. When I was young, smoking was "cool". The movie stars smoked, they advertised it on TV. It was relaxing, etc, etc. Do not beat yourself up over the choice that your children made. You are here to help then now. You know how it is when you are young; you do not think that anything can hurt you. I will throw a few positive vibes up for your kids. Have a great time at the baseball game. My mom grew up in Crystal City, Mo (Festus). In July, my family will be going to Chicago. We already got tickets to the Cubs/Diamondbacks game. Visit Wrigley Field one more time before it falls over!!! How have you been doing without the patch??? new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 624 Amount Saved: $130.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 15 Mins: 29 Seconds: 42

New me, You sound like me with the kids. Lots of guilt about how I could have been a better parent. Cutting things short like coloring are playing with them so I could stop and have a smoke. I wish I could have those years back. You just don't realize how precious it is until it is gone. I think we all do the best we can at the time. I really regret smoking around them though because as young adults they both smoke. I am offering to pay for their Chantix or any other treatment they might seek. The older one seems somewhat receptive but we will just have to see. The younger one said he was thinking about it. If one good thing comes out of this COPD maybe my children will see first hand the damage that can be done to their health and they will make the right choices. It's a shame your concert was disapointing. I will have to remember not to waste my time if they come to St. Louis. I am excite dbecause I have good seats to the baseball game Friday night and it going to be an all girl event. Hope it doesn't rain. Hi mylast, Leon Russel was not what he used to be! Johnny winter was the headliner and they both looked soooooo old. They had to be lead on and off the stage..both long white hair, long white beards. Wow, it was kind of shocking..esp, the way Johnny Winter looked; skinny arms; sat in a chair the entire time. He was pretty feeble; but he can still jam on the guitar. i guess his new cd is nominated for a grammy. Anyway, it was fun. How are you doing off the patch? I started the day with very good intentions, but went this afternoon and bought some 2mg gum. Only had one piece so far today. After this box of gum, I will try again. Or maybe before. I can not chew gum at work; only on breaks. the lozenges were giving me an upset stomach. Do not lament too much about how smoking has affected your life. I know, I can do it about alot of things in my past...regrets, regrets; they are not fun. But, the past is past, right. We can not do anything about it now. I have made apologies where I believe they were really needed and am trying to move on. For instance, i absolutely know that one of the reasons why I would lose my patience with my children is because I was always in nicotine withdrawal. Some of the problem was depression. I should have seen a dr. about medication much sooner than I did. Depression makes everything "hard". Mom, will you take me to my friends? It was so hard, so far, so time consuming. I could have been much more peaceful if i had not smoked. but, the good news is, my kids think that I was a good mom. They do know that I was unhappy alot, but we can only do our best at the time. We have to let some of these things go. We are all human. And, compared to some people's lives, it has not been too bad. And, the great news is that we are getting free from nicotine now. We need to emphasize the positive at this point. Hope you are feeling good. Let me know how it has been without any patches! That is soooo great. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 23 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 552 Amount Saved: $115.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 6 Mins: 50 Seconds: 15

New Me, Yoga is very spiritual for me too! The instructor always gives out some very inspirational messages during practice. Each session is done with intention to benefit some aspect of our lives or someone elses. I think that the three part breathing and breathing done with yoga will probable be very good for ex-smokers. I haven't bee to yoga in about six months and I really haven't kept up with it so I guess it is back to not being able to touch my toes. I tried to get my sons( 19 & 23) to go but they just wouldn't do it. :( I had a few strong craves today but for the most part I am not even thinking about smoking. It's been wonderful! I did have some sadness though thinking about how cigarettes have really ruled my entire life up until now. I guess you can't cry over spilt milk though. Hope your day has been as good as mine. Be sure to sign up with Mr. Ed on the stats because you are really racking up the days. Hi Mylast, Yoga is so wonderful. For me, it is like going to church (some spiritual based gathering) and doing exercises at the same time. I love it. My 18 year old son is even going to yoga class now! I am trying to go once a week and to pilates once a week. That is great that you are off the patch now. One week?? Nicotine should be out of your system. It is just the damn mental aspect that is so hard for me. I have two lozenges left. I do not think that I am going to buy anymore after today. I get too dependent on them. It reinforces the act of giving your body nicotine when a craving strikes. Like, I always pop a lozenge after my evening meal. If I get a strong smoking thought, I pop a lozenge. Enough is enough, I think. I have been on and off of NRT for 2 years..AHHHHH. So, I have to work today. i will check in later HOpe your garage sale was a great success. I'm a garage sale shopper myself, thrift stores, junk shops..love em. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 528 Amount Saved: $110.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 2 Mins: 22 Seconds: 7

NewMe, Sounds like you were really tired? It's too bad you have to work on Saturdays. It's sounds like you deserve a nice massage from Jose. Leon Russell is great. I have never seen him but I love his music. I am going to treat myself by starting to go to Yoga classes again. After each class the instructor rubs your shoulders and you also meditate for about 20 minutes. It really grounds me and keeps the stress down. Hopefully you are on your way out of the depression. I really haven't been tired but I think I probably might be tonight. My mood is much much better. No crazy weeping crying stuff. Hopefully that is over because I was crying over everything. I have been busy having a garage sale. Thanks god it's over now. I totally went off the patch last Sunday so, I am almost a week nicotine free. I wasn't getting cocky with this it's just that I know that I can't ever smoke again cause I have COPD and why should I prolong the inevitable. Cocky is a good way to lose a quit and I usually follow directions to the tee but I kind of felt that going off the patch might be more painful in the beginning but then I would get over it quicker and I knew that I would absolutely not have a cig. Last time I quit I did the full program on the patch and it really worked like a charm and I stayed quit for 3 years. Hope you have a great time at Leon, I am sure that will help lift your spirits too! You are doing great on your quit! Hey mylast, I work until 6:30pm on Fri. i came home from work last night and literally crashed. I flopped on my bed around 7:30, remembeed seeing the clock around midnight, 3am, and 6am, and then got up around 8am! I NEVER do that. I stay up late usually...until at least midnight. I did not even eat any dinner. WOW, my body must have needed it. I am craving nicotine a little this am with my coffe, but will ignore it and go on with my day. I work on Sat also, but am going to see Leon Russel tonight..a good smoke free activity. Hope you are feeling good today. It is really up and down with me. Part of the reason that I crashed on my bed last night was because I was so depressed I did not want to deal with anything or anybody. But, I am better today. Onward and upward..smoke free. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 21 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 504 Amount Saved: $105.00 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 23 Mins: 1 Seconds: 27

Hi mylast, I have been better for the last few days also..I have not waken up crying, anyway! Come to think of it, i was actually in good spirits last night at dinner..imagine that! I am glad you are feeling better. I did not call my dr. like i said i was going to. I figure i should get a little further into my quit before i address any medication changes. For my 3 week or 1 month reward, I am scheduling a REAL massage. The virtual ones were fun, though. We did need the tree house that day..thanks for asking about me, mylast. off to work new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 480 Amount Saved: $100.00 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 19 Mins: 42 Seconds: 46

New me, Hope your days are going better! The sadness is starting to clear for me. I am just having a few spells but mostly I feel a great sense of accomplishment. Those massages and drinks really brought me out of it. Thanks to Unhooked who made the suggestion.
