penguin, You are doing great. Nearly a month under your belt is terrific. I've watched previous struggles and it really seems like you do have a different outlook this time. It's attitude that makes all the difference. What about something active - cleaning, walking, dancing around the house? Have you got a one month reward planned? Maybe you can do some window shopping for one? You'll get there and lots of people are rooting for you! Hi Penguin, Hope the venting helps. Got anything to take you mind of it at the moment? Game of cards, solitare that sort of stuff? Good luck my friend. Hi Pen In Gestalt Therapy they refer to them as the Top Dog and the Underdog. The Top Dog is that self rightous s.o.b. that gives all the good reasons for not smoking, like it,s bad for your health, you,ll get cancer, look at the money your wasting, you get the picture.. The Under Dog on the other hand is more devious, thats the one that says, one won,t hurt you, who,s going to know, you deserve it because you,ve done a lot of good things today. The trick is to reconcile these two clowns that play tricks with your mind without giving in to the Under Dog. Sorry Pen the rest is up to you !! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 67 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,206 Amount Saved: $670.00 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 9 Mins: 53 Seconds: 39

There is nothing like having an itch that you can't scratch. Yes, it's the 30 day pit, and there is that ever present itch, itch, itch, that just won't go away. It started yesterday. I felt annoyed. Don't know why. Nothing happened really, but I just felt annoyed. I felt on edge, like I wanted to get mad at someone or something, but I couldn't find a reason, and I really didn't want to lose it anyway. Went to bed telling myself that I could really try thinking differently tomorrow, but I woke up this morning with the same itch. This is really the first time that I have any kind of extended conversation going on in my head - for and against...and I don't like it. I'm tired of this, but I know I must see my way through to get the prize....FREEDOM. I know what I need to do, I won't smoke, but it seems like a long road ahead today. Maybe venting will help the itch go away. Itch, itch, itch, itch, itch, itch........no scratchy. Argh.
