Did you Litter Cigarettes?

18 years ago 0 7 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I never threw my butts out the window, too many fires are started around here as it is. Anywhere other than the car I would field strip it and put it i my pocket until the next trash can, when I forgot though it would really start to smell. Thank goodness I don't have to worry about that anymore, I think I will add it to my list! :p

Mercy, Interesting question! Thanks for throwing it out into SSC cyberspace. You may also find it interesting that some studies have shown that second-hand smoke outdoors concentrates the air in the areas where cigarettes are smoked for a substantial amount of time, further exposing non-smokers to the harmful effects of second-hand. I used to throw them out of the window of the car so as not to smell up the inside. Round here - an area in northern Britain - you get fined for doing it but I lived on the wild side back then. (All of two weeks ago!!) I used to smoke in the house too and then empty the ashtray into plastic bags to as not to smell up the rubbish bin...... Now the curtains and sofa still stink and that is my next thing to deal with because it is HORRIBLE. ~waving at boxerfan from the other side of Houston~ :) I'm southwest. I rarely threw butts out the window. Mercy, I'm not sure it is against the law to throw a butt out the window, but there is a fine to litter. Wish I could remember the letter...made me feel like a criminal. It was about 10 years ago. But I am glad people are able to report people who throw litter out of their cars. It seems to be happening more and more. It's not like its just beer cans anymore (underage kids), its stuff that can wait until they get home like food waste. Sometimes it's complete garbage bags full of stuff. I would like to say I live in the country :| My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 86 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,738 Amount Saved: $240.8 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 11 Mins: 0 Seconds: 35

I hadn't thrown them out the window in years. The real reason? I threw one out one time, and the wind caught it just right, and it came back in on my back seat, burned it, and I smelled it, had to pull over and find it and put it out. That taught me not to use the window anymore. That was about 25 years ago! Keep it up boxer. Please know that you may have a tough day here and there.....but it just gets easier all the time. After a couple of months you will find a day where you realize you hadn't thought of it for hours!! Is that ever liberating!! Mercy, Thanks for the recognition. I'm very proud of my 15 days! I just keep taking it one day at a time, and the days are finally adding up. I'm starting to feel better and more energetic!
