my vivid imagination and panic

vivid imagination.................Oh, Yeah! Like you can be standing in the lobby of a hotel or in an electronics store and suddenly you either glance at a newspaper headline, or get a glimpse of a newscast where some wild gunman is holed up somewhere, all of a sudden, you see this scene playing out in front of you, and it usually starts with, What if?....Hmmm, you think..... what would I do, where would be a good place to be?, Could I stop it from occurring? Oh my Goodness, before you know it you realize that you are Drama Dreaming............Catastrophically of course, and so it goes, you say to yourself, Please girl calm down!! Besides, if it did happen you could probably kick his butt on a good PMS day, and hey.....didn't you say you were feeling PMSYYY today??? alrighty then!

Man Nurseboy, You hit that one right on the head. My imagination loves to play tricks on me when I have attacks....whats weird is that it will do it post attack when I am trying to fall asleep..I think i hear loud bangs..or people yelling my name..I know it sounds childish, but once in a great while, when I'm laying in bed..I think some creepy monster is watching me. Can't belive I just told you people that. On the lighter side..one day they are going to find out that people like us have some weird ESP abilities or have been abducted by aliens :p Although I will say this..alot of my friends who share my curiosity(cant spell) of the unknown and dare I say Different forms of "magic and spiritual lore" have had panic attacks or diagnosed with Panic disorder or Anxiety...well after we have been exposed to such things... Anyway I'm getting of the path..yes my Imagination does effect my panic at times :) -Jay :)

My imagination is WILD. It can be my best friend or my worst enemy!

That's right! I knew you were a writer too! Let's figure out how to tap into those creative juices in a more positive way. Me too! A vivid imagination can be a curse and a blessing. If you study many writer's musician's and artist's life stories, you can see it's true. There IS a positive side to this thing...

Yep, Danielle, like you I've done presentations to a few hundred people (inwardly folding yet outwardly "acting the clown"!). I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that, if people are in need of help or advice, they head straight for me?!?!? In the UK we have a group called "The Samaritans" who help people over the phone who are desperate, anxious etc etc - at the end of their tether. My claim to fame is that the Samaritans actually phoned ME way back in the 80s to ask for advice about someone with agoraphobia!! Dear me! I'm wondering whether Nurseboy could write a comedy novel about us weird and wonderful panickers!! Take care all!! Wendy xx

It's funny that you say that Wendy. To others, I seem calm, confident and level-headed but on the inside, I feel like a lunatic! I did a show on TV about panic attacks and agoraphobia and some of the professionals at my work were stunned. Never would they have thought I didn't have it all together. I'm very skilled at hiding things and much stronger than I give myself credit for. Sounds like you are too Wendy, and definitely Nurseboy, he wouldn't be able to do the kind of work he is doing without being together. Cheers to us, DAnielle

Ooooeeer Nurseboy!! I'm glad it's not just me!! I'm fanatical about art, music, words - anything creative in fact. I've realised over the years that my way of expressing my fears and phobias, anxietys etc has always been through music and art. You only need to take a look at "The Scream" by Edvard Munch to know that we're not the only ones!! Sometimes, the only way I can describe my feelings to others is by showing them an image or playing a piece of music and hope that they understand! Dear me - thank goodness I have good friends and family - I think they think of me as eccentric?!?! I wonder if you and Danielle are like me - outwardly, not a sign of any anxiety, depression etc yet inwardly - eeeeeuuwwwww!! Keep smiling! Wendy xxxx

thanks for the support Danielle! I am able to channel my negstive energy into my writing or talikg into a personal cassette player but when i am alone or trying to relax..yikes!

Definitely Nurseboy! I am with you. I had also heard that people with panic and anxiety disorder also have above average intelligence too. The problem is we use these things to harm ourselves instead of for the good. You will see GREAT strides in progress when you can train your mind to use this vivid imagination to envision success, and peace. But...of course, it doesn't come as easy as the negative granted. Keep switching...it'll happen. Danielle

i have always had a very vivid/visual imagination and have noticed that it responds to my panic by creating more monsters in my mind. I am a writer and a nurse. Has anyone else noticed that their imagination fuels their panic? as dean kontz says, "frequently, the vivid imagination of a novelist was a curse."
