So sick of this

Hi Misha, First of all: The first week isn't called Hellweek for nothing. The first week is the hardest. Second: You can think negative about quitting and you can think positive. If you see that quitting smoking is such a good thing, you will see things differently. Quitting makes you healtier, happier, and your skin will look younger. You will have more money and way less chances of cancer and all. In fact: There is nothing negative about quitting, it's all positive. Try to chance your mind and you will feel better, that I promiss you. Hang in and don't ever give up. Love from The Netherlands, Dutch :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 397 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,911 Amount Saved: 1171.15 Life Gained: Days: 55 Hrs: 5 Mins: 54 Seconds: 6

Thank you all so much, it got better as the evening wore on. I'm starting to notice the cravings and last one I just did some deep breaths and really helped, I just need to stay strong. Martha, I have been rewarding myself, with books, candy etc. I think we've spent more this week on my not smoking but that's ok, it will definitely pay off in the end. Have a great evening everyone, and again thanks for the support, in my more optimistic moments I KNOW I can do this, we all can. HI Misha! You're getting there! It will get better! One thing I have learned in this process, is that you try to keep on the positive side, try to laugh here & there, it will really help you. (And having a straw helps too.) But I find this saying helpful: "When trouble arises (cravings) look it squarely in the eye and tell it, 'You cannot defeat me, I am bigger than this!'" Smoking is not an option, so try something else! Not One Puff Ever! Hope this helps! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 58 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,473 Amount Saved: $611.9 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 2 Mins: 49 Seconds: 43

Hi Misha, Yeah, the first week is really no fun but you have to get past it to get to the good stuff. Are you starting to notice any of the benefits? Breathing better, more energy? Sounds like your tastebuds might be waking up! Have you been rewarding yourself? You've got almost $50 saved and seriously, not smoking 120 cigarettes is a BIG deal. That's like half a carton. The rewards don't have to be huge or expensive but a treat to lift your spirits. Look over your reasons for quitting and hang on for the ride. Life is better on the other side of the fence! Misha, Here is an easy way to get rid of the cravings. In the beginning...when things were a little tougher I went to the whyquit site. Click on every single thing in that website and then let me know how you feel. I'm telling you... the craves will be gone instantly. Also... one time I was having a hard time after work. I came to this site and someone had bumped an older post from someone who went by JoeCool... or JoeCamel. I am sure someone else can help you find it. Make sure you read these two things. It will fix you for a whole week. No kidding. I didn't want one for a whole week. That is when I discovered how mental the battle is. Convince you mind that you really DO NOT WANT TO SMOKE.... and the craves are cut by at least 80% Hope this helps.... I'm here for you... and understand how you feel. Misha, breath, breath again. The cravings will pass, they only have as much power as you give them. Tell them i know what you are and soon you will be gone for ever. Sucking and chewing candies ect.. aggrivated me too, just try sipping on cold water, and chewing on a straw. You can do this, it does get better, see it for what it is, you are HEALING....use distraction, and STAY POSITIVE, you are here because you are a non smoker, it will get better, read all the posts from the oldies... stay posting..all the best jeanigirl My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 61 Amount Saved: $19 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 12 Mins: 24 Seconds: 18

Misha, I know how hard this is right now. Many of us have all felt the same way. It is worth it, and it does get better. If your coping strategies aren't working well (raw mouth from candy and sunflower seeds), try some different ones. A couple of suggestions are sipping ice cold water and deep breathing. A nice shower is also sometimes very soothing. Misha, make sure you are taking very good care of yourself. Come back to the site and read and post as much as possible. This has been very helpful for me. Hang in there....it is worth it! Hi, I am getting so sick of this cravings and going through withdrawls all the flipping time. I am sick of eating hard candies and peppermints and sunflower seeds that my mouth is raw. At first, I wasn't eating so much, now every waking moment has to have something in my mouth. I am gaining weight, and I keep thinking is this really worth it? I feel like just giving up, I don't want to be crying and whiny all the time. Please tell me this gets better, so far today it seems like it's getting worse. mish My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 118 Amount Saved: $47 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 12 Mins: 1 Seconds: 18
