Well done Jan! I wish that pesky little demon would leave us alone! I guess in time he will. Until then, we'll keep fighting him together! Last night that miserable little sod, Old Nick jumped up on my shoulder and whispered in my ear, "Boy, have I got a deal for you!" (Yesterday was one of my "crabbier" days, mixed in amongst, of course, all of my good days). He grinned at me, teeth all crooked and yellow. "Just imagine," says he, "I can take all your worries away and make you feel whole again. Life will be grand, you and I, smoking ourselves silly whenever the mood hits. No more miserable days. Happy as clams we'll be, cough, cough. The cough," he insists, his bleary eyes all watery and running, "is just a tickle in the throat. So wadya think??? Great deal, eh?" And in between the lines, I'm reading this... Yellow stained teeth, a wracking cough, and watery runny eyes are a good deal? Paying $9.00 a day for the privilege of slowly killing myself is a good deal? That hot burning in the back of the throat that accompanies a deep drag of smoke...let me see, that's a good deal too, right? So here's the deal. Even after the topsy turvy day I had yesterday, Old Nick could still ask me, "Deal...or No Deal." I walk around the desk where the deal button is flashing, and without as much as a second thought, I slam down the box, and proclaim as loud as I can.... NO DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And so my smoke free journey continues, Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 65 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,973 Amount Saved: $585 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 9 Mins: 27 Seconds: 8
