Audrey, Congratulations on you 20 days of freedom. The reality of smoking is disturbing and the list of things smoking can cause is endless. I never realized that people actually lost limbs from the affects of smoking. As smokers, for years we all justified that we were going to die of something anyway.. may as well enjoy it while we are here. I read a story here on the site when I frist quit. It was called a slow painful death..(or something like that) in the coping with withdrawal section posted by UFO. If I can find it I will bump it for you. I printed this post out and carried it with me for months. I read it over and over again and each time I thought of smoking, I imagined myself as this dying person. I could tell my children that my addiction was killing me so I continued on the quit journey. Please read the story. I'm sure it will have an affect on you as it did me. It is the ultimate reality check. Keep your quit. It is worth it. I am sorry to hear about your friend, he sounds so nice. This will be a hard time for you but let it make your quit even stronger, let it show you what can happen. Quitting smoking not only helps stop the cancer, theres the smelling, breathing, looking, tasting better, the money saved, the good feeling of being able to quit and not be tied to smoking, being free to live your life. I lost a good friend too and I know how hard this will be. Stay strong and keep your quit, it is worth it!!! Audrey, Thank you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Frank and his family. This is an addiction and those smokers can not see pass this! You have made the right choice to ignore the ignorance and continue on this positive path. Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
