Autum, These are all very good questions and will vary from quitter to quitter. Most find the smell offensive, it even makes them sick to their stomach. Others enjoy the smell or it doesn't bother them at all. Some crave, some don't. Some members can handle being around smokers, others find it hard and abstain from doing so until more comfortable in their quit. Our members will be along shortly to share their experiences with you. Danielle __________________________ The SSC Support Team

Sorry to get all excited here. Does anyone know the cost of a coronary bypass, a lung transplant, chemo and radiation treatments for lung cancer, all of this cause your insurer won't pay up because you got whatever from smoking?????? The cost to health care from smoking related disease is billions every year. Autum, Joey Quit, quit while you are ahead! I smoked for much longer that you have been alive and I am so so very lucky. Touch wood. This is a great place to get support, find the information that you need and to get strong inorder to be quit. So, post here, read all you can and educate yourself about quitting. Shout out for help right here, find what you will use to cope and make your quit viable. Find something you can do for yourself that is healthy and will ultimately replace smoking. Stay Strong - let us know how you are doing and post often. Hi there Joey, there's nothing to be scared about. btw your father is doing pretty fantastic. Smoking is & always will be addiction to nicotine. If you smoke, you're addicted to nicotine !, don't smoke & you get nicotine withdrawl + cravings. If you stop smoking completely, withdrawl stops & cravings subside. Timeframe: If you Quit cold turkey the withdrawl will end in 3 days otherwise Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) extends the withdrawl period by weaning you off nicotine. Probably the best advice i could give your is to quit & stay quit you must want to stop smoking more than life itself, knowledge is the key - the more you know about quitting smoking the easier you will cope no matter what method you choose & remember ...... You are quitting nicotine addiction, nothing fancy here just plain old drug abuse !
