Katie I also had problems with the patch during an old quit. It seemed like there was WAY too much nicotine coming in, even though I was a heavy smoker. You were right to take it off. I think cold turkey is when you are not using any nicotine substitute, such as the patch, gum or inhaler. I have read that the nicotine is gone in three to five days.
