Hi, Suzers. Welcome to the SSC and congratulations on your decision to quit smoking.
I quit using Wellbutrin (Zyban). The instructions were to smoke normally for two weeks while the drug reached it's maximum serum level, then quit. I cut back by about a third and ended up putting myself into a state of extended withdrawal and depression. Once I figured that out, I had 3 cigs in about 20 minutes, the depression lifted, and those three were my last.
Allen Carr also suggested you continue to smoke normally until you finished his book.
You mentioned that it seems like it's going to be painful when you quit. That isn't necessarily so, Suzers. You may be one that breezes through with ease. I hope that is so. But if it isn't, keep in mind that no matter how bad it may feel at the moment, smoking will just prolong it, not fix it. Should those times come, here is where you need to be. Reading, posting, asking for help and letting it come.
Attitude is everything in this, Suzers, no matter what method you use. Determination and committment are important, too.
You can do this, Suzers. Stay close, read much, post often.
Shevie
