My favorite chorus for in my head is, thanks to a wonderful quitter named Rusty, and what she says is ... "just never light that next one, simply never light that next cigarette." Okay I embellished a bit and it really is as simple as never putting that next smoke between my lips. Now I didn't say it was easy I said it was simple. ... Thanks for being here and for being there. Thanks Rusty. The strength is within. Monica, I refer to this journey as the road less traveled. There are times that this road is long, pitch black and full of stumbling blocks. In these times, lean on those of us that have gone before you. We have been where you are and know how difficult it can be. I struggled a lot with my quit and never would have made it through without all those that were the light on my dark path. There is usually someone around. I posted my inner most feelings on these boards and received the support I needed that I wouldn't have found anywhere else. That is what makes this place so special. Hard days come and hard days go. Hang on to the good and let go of the bad. Before long, most days will be good and bad days will turn into moments. Quitting is worth every bit of misery you may be experiencing now. Hang in there. I'm here too my friend. We are not giving up on you so don't give up on yourself. This isn't about disappointing anyone. This is about addiction. We are all addicts and have addictive behavior. When we smoke, we are slaves to the cigarettes. I didn't realize how much of a slave we are until I quit. The addiction wants you back at all times. It tells you all kinds of lies to keep you in its trap. You are a strong and amazing person. Regardless of how many times this addiction has kicked you in the rear you have refused to give up. Now is not the time to quit quitting. Now is the time to pick yourself up, brush yourself off and start again. Pick yourself up as many times as necesary and keep going. You are a quitter and you are going to succeed. Every now and then, someone comes along that struggles with the quit and fights with everything they have. Those of us that have been around for a while can tell when someone is going to succeed. You are one of those quitters. I BELIEVE IN YOU TOO. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 513 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,273 Amount Saved: $1795.5 Life Gained: Days: 45 Hrs: 6 Mins: 21 Seconds: 31

Not giving up and yes I have learned. Whatever it takes. This attempt was all about white nuckling it and I paid no attention to where I was going or why, just that I was there and it hurt.
