Monica,
I'm really sorry to hear about dad.
I'm sure this is a stressful situation but smoking and losing your quit will only add to it.

Monica,
I am so very sorry that you and yours are having a difficult time right now...illness does cause big stressors. Have you been rewarding yourself?? I think a day out with a girlfriend sounds like what you need. getting out of your environment and distracting yourself is just what you need. keep your quit and remember to love yourself because you don't want to cause yourself to be sick like your family members are...because of smoking. just know that it will be worth it.
chin up,
kat

Monica,
Day 14 was the worse day of my quit. I had the hardest cravings then. I was ready to quit my job and go smoke "just one". Insanity. I can totally relate to where you are right now. You hang on tight. Smoking won't help a thing. It will just mean that you have to start all over again and we know you don't want to do that. :8o:
Take a lot of really deep breaths, drink ice water and focus on getting through five minutes at a time if you have to. I also sucked on peppermint and that seemed to help me a lot. It will get better. Keep going :)

Monica, I am sorry to hear about all the illness in your family. I am glad to hear that you understand that your smoking will not make anyone better. I smoked through my father's cancer and my mother's Alzheimer's. It didn't help them a bit.
When we are caring for loved ones, sometimes we need a ME break. Sometimes we need to not feel guilty about going shopping, reading a book, or taking a walk in the park. These can actually clear our heads a little and renew us to go back to the task.
One more thing...two weeks is an awesome milestone. It's also frequently a period when our addiction is in its last gasps. Don't let your addiction grab control. Be proud of what you have accomplished...even though those good feelings might be overrun by the stress you are feeling, you can still make sure that you reward yourself in some small way. No one can take that two weeks away from you.
Rusty :)

Monica,
Hang in there and know that we can help you get through this. Use that time at the mall and pamper yourself, pick up a good magazine or book and get yourself ready for tonight. Your hot bath, coffee and snack and really let go.
You deserve this and you need some you time. Relax and do this before bed and ease into sleep. Start the day fresh tomorrow :)
Keep Strong,
Josie
