When does it feel natural?

17 years ago 0 327 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
For me, whether or not I feel normal is not the issue. After spending countless hours here at the SSC, reading reams of information, I could never really enjoy smoking again. I know way too much :8o: NOPE Janet My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 491 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,833 Amount Saved: $2455 Life Gained: Days: 64 Hrs: 20 Mins: 6 Seconds: 11

Hey Windy, Idon't know if it ever feels normal but there is so much in my life that doesn't feel particularly normal I'm not sure why this would be any different! I can only tell you that I"m now at 10 1/2 months and I'm wistful about smoking. It's like that friend you had in high school that was totally toxic. Always had a bad idea to get you in trouble but you looked cooler when you were hanging out with them. You realized that friend was completely bad for you at the time but it was fun and cool and you really got used to it. When you have lots of time and experience away from that friend you look back with a little grin and a head shake at how you could have been so dumb as to say with that person for so long when you KNEW better. In a nutshell ( why put something succinctly when you can wax on for paragraphs!!) The see saw definately tilts to one side and you WILL start thinking of yourself as a non smoker rather then an exsmoker and here's the cool part. At one point you'll stop thinking about it. Look ahead, it will come! Hi Windy, So many people ask this question at various points in their quits. We'd be very rich if we knew the answer!!! You are doing all the right things at this stage in your quit. It's so important to remain on guard, but let me give you the hope you must be feeling you need...... You mention wanting to make the 'natural choice' instead of a conscious choice not to smoke. What will eventually happen for you is that you will not need to make any choice at all, and it feels as if you have never smoked. That is the really wonderful time...when you realise you have not thought about smoking at all first for an hour or more then for a day and so on. It's a gradual process though and takes a different amount of time for each person. Just carry on as you are... fight the fight when you must, and just relax into the control you have over your life now. The reward of feeling 'natural' about it will be yours in time. NEVER LOOK BACK, THE FUTURE IS AHEAD. Lolly. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/25/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 730 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 25,566 Amount Saved: 3650 Life Gained: Days: 101 Hrs: 15 Mins: 6 Seconds: 54

Windy.....just try to be patient....it will come...it's different for all of us. While 70 days is fantastic, how does it compare to how long you smoked??? :quest: We are addicts....and then on top of that there is the "habit" part of smoking. I changed the spot where I store my canned goods way back in the early spring.....I still start to the original cabinet when I want a can of anything. Sometimes I get as far as even opening the door before I realize I am in the WRONG cabinet. and this is just "habit"...it doesn't involve "addiction". Be patient....just distract yourself from the thoughts of smoking....it will come....and when it does you will realize how free you really are!
