What day of your quit was the toughest?

I remember day 10 being pretty bad. It was the worst day up until that point. I remember posting that and thinking that I was going to get somebody posting to me that I was being ridiculous... that there's no WAY day 10 could have been worse than Hell Week... nope, I got a lot of people saying that the second week was worse for them too! I was FLOORED! And then I didn't feel so bad about having a REALLY tough day in week 2. This site really helped me through that. Then, days 30-34 were miserable. Absolutely miserable! Definitely, by far, the hardest period of my quit, way back in July before I reset my meter. The "30-day pit" sure got me! The funny thing was that I didn't know that 30 days was a typical rough spot. I think if I'd known that, I would have done better... as it was, on day 34, I broke down and smoked. I had a lot of other issues going on at the time in my life that I had to deal with as well and I'd had all I could take and broke down. After that, I learned to rely on the site and post BEFORE I smoke and wait for 10 responses. Hasn't failed yet... if I've done that, I've made it through. It was the times I thought I was strong enough to do it alone that I messed up. Crave the Quit! I don't think I had a 'worst day'. The first week sucked ... change and all that comes with it. Second week I started getting into the groove. Third week, conquering fear. Fourth week ... Ahhhhhhhhhhh ... so much better. Jbr13, That's it! Take it one small step at a time. Focus on getting through the next 4 days. When you get there, reward yourself, celebrate and keep going. You are doing well. Keep going! Danielle ____________________ The SSC Support Team

It would be around 3 months into my quit when a large black Rat appeared in the garden. Some of you may recall this story. Being a cowardly sort of fellow, it worried me enormously. I didn't smoke, but set fire to the compost bin instead (where the Rat was living). No compost bin now - no Rat either. The NicoDemon can appear at any time in any number of forms and the Rat disguise never fooled me! Definately Day 14. I still remember it. I was ready to quit my job and go have "just one". I stayed at work. I posted here and I read, read and read. The good people here got me through it and other tough times as well. Day 14 was by far the worst. Hi, J. Day 3 was very rough. By mid-morning it felt like I'd been quit for months and life was going to be infinite misery. I blew up on the Demon Busters thread, then went to the store and bought a pack, not to smoke, but to shred into the trash while remembering all the reasons I was quitting. Then there were three days around 86 - 89, or so, that I spent the evenings curled up on the couch just waiting for the craves to pass. The days were bearable because of the distraction, but those evenings my wife was working very late, I was home alone and hungry because supper was delayed a few hours. I simply clung to the knowledge that I was not being injured and they would pass. I was right! :) Congratulations on 8 smoke-free days, J. You're doing great. Day 3 was definately the hardest day of my life, and one I will never forget. All I did was cry ALL day, it was also the longest day of my life. But thanks to a wonderful friend I made on here (Rusty) I made it through and am coming up to 600 days smoke free!!! Hang in there everyone, it is possible and it is WORTH it!! The first three days were physically the hardest, no doubt about it. The second week I had my crazy days. But keep on going...one day at a time!
