Sorry about your hot water heater, Kaiti... I almost feel...responsible! HAHA! This heat pump has me so flustered. The new one is installed, but they had to extend where the intake grating was and they peiced it together and it looks awful. More insulation and storm windows were installed as well. I have been a bit on edge, but I am holding it together. My house is a mess and with the tree still up, etc.., I am getting nervous. I have irrational thoughts involving a can of gasoline and a match! :eg:
But.....I will be a good girl and just hang on.
It's gotta get better.....

I do too, Windy! I wish the US celebrated that! I looked it up and there is some very interesting history behind it. The lords made the serfs work on Christmas and gave them the day after off. Often they would send them home with left-overs. Also, workers would bring a box to the lords to fill with staples and sometimes money. Now it is marked by retail sales and sporting events.
So there, la-de-da-de-da, I did my homework! :8|: The bottom line is, a day off from work!

I did it! Made it through my first Christmas and major crisis all at the same time!
Oldest daughter couldn't come home, so on Saturday we met her halfway and celebrated Christmas with her at a restaurant. It was pleasant.
As I wrote the last car payment check, the heat pump went out. Thank goodness it has not been nearly as cold as usual and we have a fireplace.
Christmas Day was hectic enough and also had to feed and entertain both sides of the family.
Yesterday crews came in to clean duct work, replace insulation and install the new heat pump. All the activity made me very nervous.
But I survived! :) I will admit that yesterday was the hardest day I have had in quite awhile, so I returned to my Green Tea and sunflower seeds.
This morning my iron went out....do appliances communicate? I'm beginning to get a little paranoid...

Gonnadoit,
Boxing day is a national holiday on the 26th of December in many countries including Canada.

So glad you had time with your daughter. Sounds like your day was full of love and family. You are blessed.
And look at how many of us made it though Xmas smoke free!!! WOW, we are putting the tobacco companies out of business:eg:
Our trouble with our appliances began when we bought a car. Those darn appliances, they must commuicate long distance. My washing machine died just before Xmas and yesterday my tredmill dies. Just waiting for the third thing to happen. What the heck is going on?
I just hate it when that stinking thinking comes around. Today I had a little going on, but reminded myself I was a non smoker and put my rubber bands on :8o: Those things hurt!!

Good for you Gonna! Two years ago I got a new heat pump for Christmas. I think they like to go out during this week. When it rains it pours but you handle things as a non-smoker now. Incredible isn't it? Once in a while those bad days pop up and life isn't always a bed of roses. What matters is that you get through the bad times and enjoy the good. Glad you had a great Christmas with a lot of family around to love!
Congratulations on making it through and not giving up on yourself. You are such a great quitter!

Gonna,
Fantastic test of wills and you passed with flying appliances ( this is how they communicate!). So take a reward and some you time and look around to see if anything else is ready to test you, get prepared and you will fair well :)
Kudos,
Josie
