The feelings of a social outcast!!!

18 years ago 0 983 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Jaden, I know what you mean. I had a social invitation my 2nd weekend with friends that I would usually smoke with, and I had to decline. I wasn't ready. We will be able to handle these situations eventually, but maybe just not today. Don't get discouraged. We can attend social events some day and handle it without smoking, and when we are ready, we will know it. I'm mentally preparing myself for New Year's eve. In my mind, I'm trying to figure out what situations I will run into and make a plan on how I'm going to cope with them without smoking. We are doing great fighting the good fight, we just need to keep taking it one day at a time. Jaden, Look at you at 20 days...wow that went by fast!!!! Congrat's to you and reward yourself big. No reward to to big to help us beat this addiction. Dunedad, if you hang from a bar for about 7 days straight, it will stretch you out and you'll be 4'2" by Christmas...no don't thank me....what are friends for! Feeling like a social outcast was one of my reasons for quitting...We went to disneyland over the summer...Yeah that was me hiding behind Pluto, burning one. I went to several Padres baseball games...This year you cannot smoke ANYWHERE in entire stadium, however, there is little nook, that the "scurge" of society was hiding in, puffing away. It really is quite embarrasing to have show the public your weakness like that. I'm glad I dont have to hide anymore Your community may not have anti-smoking rules yet...but beleieve me, it's coming. It will be great to be a non smoker at that point ,eh? Jaden, Eventually you will be able to do things, bar, drink, hang out while people smoke, though I find it gross and am never downwind. In the beginning you have to protect your quit. You can not take any chances. I couldn't anyway. I got in the elevator with a women that had just smoked today and I don't blame him one bit... I could barely breath because she smelled so bad... I am so embarrased that I smelled that way. I found myself breathing into my scarf and thought about the people that had to smell me... WELL NO MORE!!! Yippie!!!! I'm still going strong.. and luckily the frying pans were safe for a bit as my spouse was away on business. Sorry about the delay in my posts... it's Christmas session and this is the time of year that I work myself half to death. Good for not smoking and I am sure that it will help keep the weight of as I have been eating everything in sight... what is up with that anyway... why does my back side have to look like a couple of watermelon's mating when I quit. ah well one of life's cruel jokes... nothing that tastes good is good for you and everything that is enjoyable will kill you!!!! LOL :p
