Is it hopeless????

I am so scared and so sad right now...I ran out of Xanax, and went to the doc to get some more. well he said 40 days of xanax is enough. and refused to give me another prescription. Well, now the withdrawals are sooooo bad, even after that short time period of taking xanax. I just want to crawl out of my skin, I cant leave my house, I cant stop shaking. I called the doc, who told me that the only thing that would help me would be to stay drunk all the time. I told him about the panic program, and how it was helping me and xanax was giving me enough stability to be able to grasp the concepts taught here. The doc laughed at me. Litterally laughed. He said 40 days is not enough to get hooked on it and that I was just seeking drugs. Not so, I have an appointment with a new doc, who is a psychiatrist and I hope he can help me get off of this xanax easily and either on to something that is not addicting, or help me fix whatever is not wired right up stairs. Meanwhile, is there anything that will help xanax withdrawals???? can you die from them???? Heather
