Wonderful words cheermom...as I pour over all of these posts today (being day 1 for me), I see all the different levels everyone is at in their quit and the challenges at each level. Some challenges very different, but some challenges very much the same. On behalf of this new quitter a thank you to all who came before us, paving the way and shining a light on our paths. (yeah, I say this now, but talk to me in four days.......I'm sure I will have sprouted horns and will have driven to Chicago for a deep dish pizza to quench my cravings!!) I think I have been concentrating much time into posts that will explain what the 1st days of my quit will be like. Thank you for being a light at the end of a tunnel, and at some point it no longer is a battle. I am at the very beginning of my quit this morning. Congrats, on your 5 months! That must've really been a battle with cigs still being arms length! Kim, If you only wanted to touch one person, then that person is me, but you have touched sooooooo many more persons than just I. You are always supportive, caring, and inspirational in all your posts. I love to read the things you say and you have helped me more than I could ever verbalize, just by being here and offering your support as well as by setting an achievable but very high standard. Thank you for being here, and for being my friend. Very inspiring...i often wonder if i will feel that way. I have not a very hard time, but i have some moments! My hubby is also a smoker, he is a late night smoker, i am usually in bed, or in the bedroom reading,he goes outside, it doesn't bother me. The smokes are hidden, (i could find them if i wanted too, but i don't). Kind of babbling, glad you feel so good! Cheermom - it is so important to hear from those who have survived the struggles and are enjoying their freedom. Thank you for letting us know that there is light at the end of the tunnel even for those who don't always have an easy time of it. You ARE an inspiration to us! It has been a rough road for me and one I wouldn't do again (that is why I did it only once). I've had to battle this quit inside of me and the battle is so worth it. This weekend was such a turning point in my quit that FINALLY I see all the heartache, depression, anger, etc etc was worth it. I now know what it is like to be a non-smoker as if I never smoked before. It is foreign to me and I love that feeling. When my husband goes out to smoke, it finally doesn't bother me anymore (it gags me instead lol). When he asked for me to buy him a pack, I went to go get him one and instead, turned around and asked him to buy his own. I literally felt like I was breakign the law. All you newbies, this quit of yours is just that: YOURS. It is so worth the pain, the craves, the withdrawals, hell week, heck week and all the other weeks. You will feel so alive and well and have such wonderful smells of the holidays coming up. I am actually looking forward to that this year. I want to help just one person here and I would feel like I've accomplished alot in a lifetime. One day at a time was said to me once. Then for a while there, it was one minute at a time. Now its more again. I dont think about it often and I dont come here as much as I should. I will only come here because I want to help that one person who might be needing it. I think it was butterfly swimmer that asked for mentors. I am finally ready to be one too. I have the BEST mentor here (well to me she is - Lady). I've had friends also that I've met here help me, but that one mentor is what got me where I am now in my quit. She reminds me of things I dont think about that I should. She lets me know it will be alright, and she is ALWAYS available. Thanks!!! Well, enough said, just wanted the newbies to know that it will be alright. Just give it time. "This too shall pass". Hugs everyone!~!! Kim PS hint: tomorrow is 5 months for me woohoo party time!!!
