First I cried for your joy. Then I thought about how lucky you are and she to have you. Then I thought about the importance of loved ones in our decisions to quit smoking. Then I thought about the benefits to the relationships with those we love along with those who have not yet entered our lives. Then I got called away to my daily life and quit thinking about it for now. Congrats. Today, I have been inundated with emails from all of my friends and Email buddies, congratulating me on my two months smoke free. I was quite surprised because I had not even told some of them. Then one of them came back with the original text attached: To all: I snagged all your email addresses off of one of Denise's emails. Denise is my sister. Today she is celebrating two months of not smoking. She fights the seemingly unbeatable odds everyday. I am writing you to please take a minute to congratulate and encourage her to keep going. Tell her how much you value her friendship and want her to be healthy and stick around for a long, long time. Just a quick note or an e-card if you have time. Denise has quit smoking many, many times. Once she went for five months. She has smoked since she was 12. What amazes me is that she always has the courage to try again. I want my sister to live a long, long time. Thank you from some who loves Denise a lot. Denise's sister, Lynn Tears indeed. OH, for heaven's sake. I got home and she, my sister, who lives in Arizona, had sent me 12 roses. 10 red and 2 yellow. Now, research on yellow roses turns up this: "Today, the yellow rose is used to embrace a new beginning. Yellow roses are appropriate for marking the beginning of a new life" and of course red ones mean "love" so now I'm in tears again! I did NOT expect this, at all! The laughs mix with the tears, creating laughtear. Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend full of wonder and light, Denise My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/16/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,866 Amount Saved: $465 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 6 Mins: 15 Seconds: 20
