As soon as he walks in the door see if he passes the smell test. Smell his clothes and his hair. I suspected my 16 year old of smoking, he gets the sniff test a lot. He is not smoking but some of his friends are.
I don't care what they think, both my kids will get the sniff test until they are grown and moved out. My first job is to protect them, my second job is to be their friend.
My son states that's not fair, that if he's in a car and someone else smoke that he'll get in trouble for it. I told him, that's right, you will. I explained the danger of second hand smoke and told him I don't want him in a car with his friends smoking, it's not allowed.
I told him it's pretty simple, that if he comes home smelling like smoke he's in trouble no matter how he got to smelling like that.....
