Hello Marie As you say "day by day" "one day at a time" The step down process was for me a place where I got to celebrate that I was moving on and that I was stepping through step by step. This time I did it cold turkey and the time before I did it on patches. Be prepared for what ever will come and be prepared for the joy of the day. Stay in touch and I look forward to hearing from you in the morning. Fantastic job on your 74 dayas and look at how much time you have added to your life.Hooray! I think sleeping patterns may be disrupted no matter "how" you quit. I used the patch...had vivid dreams...would awake often....but then I blamed menopause for some of it....seemed like the quit brought those symptoms to the front for a spell?? A few weeks in, I couldn't sleep....then later, I couldn't get "enough" sleep! My hub quit cold turkey, he is known to be able to sleep n o matter what, and he had a spell of not sleeping well. Each individual is different. Just hang tough and remember that all these symptoms WILL finally pass. and if I were you, I would follow the patch program to the end. I credit it at least partially with my success in quitting :) katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1696 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 67,853 Amount Saved: $9667.2 Life Gained: Days: 221 Hrs: 6 Mins: 16 Seconds: 57
