The Allen Carr book convinced me that support groups were negative and people should not think of themselves as victims in this way, but celebrate freedom instead. That is why I did not come to SCC in the early days of my successful quit. However, I came back a few months ago when I was having trouble accepting my boyfriends smoking. I know that if I had not had the support from SCC, I would have started smoking again no matter what the book said. When I was on SCC before reading Allen carr's book, I kept failing in my quit. What I am trying to say is that I personally needed the Allen Carr book AND the SCC to quit smoking successfully.
