A funny thing happened this morning on the way to the forum. First my toga got caught in a rose bush, I almost fell on my butt and my trusted companion, JR, decided my foot was as good as any tree and let me have it. Of course he was just getting my attention as I was trying to read the paper and walk him. Not a good morning at all, everyone in the Obits was younger than me (this sucks) and my stocks continue to decline. What does all this have to do with not smoking you ask; good question. It is called perception to the facts of life.
The SSC is so rich in opinions and also extremely rich in talented people who in addition to going through the hell of quitting smoking are trying their best to express themselves to the forum. Some are quite eloquent and others stumble over their choice of words and dont quite ex press themselves the way they wanted. Criticism is abundant as everyone has an opinion, no two exactly alike. There are discussions on slips, cravings, withdrawals, NRT vs. CT, and the I have failed again for the 10 millionth time. No matter the topic there is going to be quite a few posts, yea, nay and what the hell. So here we are this morning, how is your day going to be.
My favorite topic is now the subject of FAILURE. What is FAILURE? First off I believe we should eliminate the word from our vocabulary. Let us change the word to DELAYED SUCCESS and then no one would be a failure unless they failed. Once again my mentor Max has come through for me on the subject of WINNING. Let us look at this:
Success is connected with continuous action.
It's largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go.
You're not finished when you're defeated,
you're only finished when you quit.
In fact, there's only one way you can fail,
and that's to stop trying.
Continuous effort, persistence and determination
will be necessary for you to succeed.
The odds are in your favor if you keep trying.
You can have a fresh start any time you choose,
for "failure" is not in the falling down, but in the staying down.
It's not over until it's over.
If you've got the courage to stick it out,
you'll attain your goal.
Winning isn't everything, but wanting to, is.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try, and try again.
