Elanie: I quit cold turkey. The third day was the worst day, so if you do go cold turkey be prepared. I did find it easier to quit cold turkey than on the patch personally. I wanted the nicotine out of my system as soon as possible. Navigator. elaine I used the 21 mg patch, and took it off after 2 weeks and did the gum for 4 days after that.. I was just like you I wanted that nic out of my body as soon as possible. I was afraid that I would slip so I bought the gum and it worked. The bottom line is I can not have one puff..... I started with the patch. The more knowledge I gained ... the more the fear went away. Once the fear was gone ... the quit was on baby. I ripped my patch off. Told Mr. Nicotine to go get bent. Couldn't be happier now! You have to do what is right for you. Cigarettes Not Smoked

elaine , I have used the patch, zyban, gum and cold turkey. I guess for me I was just trying to quit. I had someone tell me to never give up on quitting. I started May 1st and then smoked. I was comming off the patches. I found after each step down I would go trough the same withdrawal as before. This time I tried Smoke Away and it really has helped, plus it is all natural. There are some tablets you take when you have a crave, but they have some tabaco in it so I just use breath mint. Anyway it is a personal matter. I know of people who use the patches and it worked for them. Three years ago when I made my first attempt to quit my husband put them down also (cold turkey). He is still smoke free, but I have had to make several attempts. I just did not know what to expect when one quits and now I have learned the hard way what withdrawal is all about. I know the nic is gone, but I need to work on the mental. Good luck and keep coming back. You have helped me more than you know. Elaine, Cold Turkey v The Patch? A personal choice so I cannot advise you. Somebody here said that it's a bit like the difference in ripping a plaster from your skin, as opposed to pulling it off gradually. I used the patch, but after 10 weeks I have to say I couldn't wait until my body was completely nicotine free! all the best Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 135 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,055 Amount Saved: 1012.5 Life Gained: Days: 22 Hrs: 12 Mins: 54 Seconds: 30

Elaine..... Unfortunately, I do not have an answer for you. I truely believe that our quits are the main focus; that is, not smoking. However you arrive there is up to you. Your main concern should be to make sure your quit is secure enough to withstand withdrawl again. Whether or not you have on a patch is a decision for YOU to make. Only you know how strong your quit really is. Just keep that in mind. I'm here for you in support whenever you need! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life p.s.- CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 5 DAYS!!! My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 114 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,433 Amount Saved: $372.78 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 4 Mins: 58 Seconds: 44
