Hi Duff I am a newbie quit sept 19 2006 ,,, reason fear! Fear of getting cancer of the mouth I smoked sence the age of 12 yrs that's 34 years of my life and it took getting a tooth out to wake me up and get me to quit Take care and I love reading your posts :)

And yet another great "Duffism". Quitting has been hell at times, but I don't think it's as bad as constantly living with the fear of "trying" or fear of "failing". I smoked for 27 years because I believed that I could not quit and I was afraid that I would fail if I tried. I really never looked at "fear" as a positive emotion which symbolizes change. Thanks again for some very wise words. Phil, If you've never read any of Duffis' posts, then you don't know what you're missing! You should do a search of his name using the search function and read some of his posts... they are some of the best on this site. My two favorites are when will they stop and another duffis sermon. But Duffis has written many good posts. Check them out! Crave the Quit!
