Doin' well Pink. 10 days in and going strong(so far). I've had some ups and down but I've manage to make it through. I use all the coping techniques that really work for me and so far, they're working. Keep strong everyone, and keep on posting. Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 314 Amount Saved: $90 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 3 Mins: 25 Seconds: 28

I quit because my hubby was having chest pains, no he would not go to the Doc. He said we needed to cut down on smoking. I decided not to smoke that evening, then the next morning and see how long I could go without one. Well, it has been 30 days today!!! It was not easy and still is not but with the help of my Doctor I can do this. Yes, hubby is still smoking but only 2 cigs a day..not sure what the point??? Thanks Marie...I am pretty proud of myself!!! ;p But it just amazes me how many of us recovering smokers had or have asthma!!! I have had it since I was a child but once I started smoking it just got worse. I was on 2 inhalers and would take a puff and light up a cig!!!! Now I am down to 1 inhaler use 1/2 the dose and am trying to ween myself off that. One more plus with quitting smoking!!!!! Let's keep it up and breath deep..cuz we can now!!!!! The decision to quit came when I saw my beautiful, innocent little niece looking at the cigarette in my hand. Even at one and a half years of age, she was checking out what her Auntie was up to. I refuse to give her the message that it's ok to smoke. Pink, I am loving this post. I have not been here in a day or 2. I quit for my kids. I wanted to be a good example, and the thought of me being sick. Who would take care of them? I stay quit because I am stubborn, and I don't like to fail. And how can I be a good example if I do not give it my all. I quit because I was a closet smoker and who was I fooling. Myself. I started at staying quit for 7 years over a situation where I felt I was a failure. My 16 yr old came to me and said he had seen me smoking and wanted to know why I started again. Frankly I was felt embarressed. At that time I was using the cigs as a crutch feeling their power with every puff. Well I finally realized they do noting for me but make me lie, cheat and embarrass myself. So that is the main reason I quit. PinkTexas ok I'll play :) I quit smoking for better health ,freedom of addiction and social stigma I will stay quit because: I think the most important thing is to keep this Freedom, here you can't smoke anywhere and I hate the thought of being outside with strangers smoking when I could be with my family. I know I will keep my quit because I am goal oriented and when determination fails me stubborness kicks in LOL. And hopefully more days alive!!! Now i do... i have all of the above and many more.
