No need to apologize, I understand where you are coming from. I am actually kind of surprised that he has been so inconsiderate about his smoking since I've quit. I haven't said anything because I wouldn't have wanted anyone telling me what I could and couldn't do, and wouldn't have quit any sooner if someone pressured me. I am hoping that my example will help him realize he can do it too. It actually makes me kind of sick to smell it so it's almost a good reinforcement for me. If things change down the road, I will have to have a talk with him but for now, I will just focus on me.

Thanks everyone for your feedback and advice. It certainly helps to know you are out there. I am hanging in there but I do think today was worse than yesterday. When the cravings come they are STRONG but I keep reminding myself they will pass and keep reviewing all the reasons I wanted to quit in the first place. This is definately an emotional roller coaster, so many opposing feelings. My husband still smokes and that is not helping matters but I know if I am serious about staying quit, I will succeed. On to day 3!

Thanks everyone for your support. I am so glad I found this site. I too was reading everything I could to help prepare myself and happened to read about this site on another message board. I have done all the exercises and actually just decided on Friday to stop. Any time I had picked a quit date I would chicken out on that day or the day before. So I just woke up and decided that this was the day. Reading all your posts makes me feel like I am not alone. I am realizing just how badly I want to be a non-smoker and I want to succeed. I am using some nrt because right now, I just want to stop inhaling poison and get use to being without cigarettes. I have smoked since age 13 and I just turned 50 so it is hard to remember doing ANYTHING without a cigarette. I even smoked in the middle of the night. I would wake up about 3 or 4 times a night to have a cigarette. Very sick. So I will do whatever it takes to stop. I will worry about the nicotine later. I actually feel guilty when I read all of you who are going cold turkey but I have never been able to last more than a few hours that way, and I can't keep on smoking, I just can't. I am on day 2 now and I feel like I can do this. Anyway, I appreciate your feedback and look forward to getting to know you all. Thanks again for your help.

Welcome Kandlewoman! Day 2 - good for you!! You are the same age & have the same smoking history that I do. All I can say is, drink water, drink water, drink water! And work on positive thinking to replace the 'romantic smoking' thoughts. Hello Kandalwoman Tell the smoking gun to smoke outside the house and car. Lay the smoking rules down, and get him to quit some, three week afterhave gained strength.
