Hard to Believe

Oh Marie, I can so relate to your friend! The lies & excuses I used make no sense at all. The 1st two times I quit, I barely told anyone! I had myself convinced that if I told anyone at work, or the neighbors, friends, etc - - then they would be 'watching' me, they would be checking up on me, or waiting for me to fail or slip up. Is that crazy or what! Like the whole world revolves around me and people have nothing better to do with their time but watch me quit smoking. The more I read on this site & from members experience, the more I see how I lied to myself. I am just so determined to get through it & stick to not smoking - - I'm tired of smoking ruling my life and my thinking. Yeah, lady... You know, i had to find other reasons to quit besides the health reasons, because I still don't beleive them. I wanted to quit, so I had to look for another reason to do it. I completely hear ya! And the bugs have left my ears! LOL!!! My ears are feeling tons better today too, Danielle.. thanks for the concern, and thanks for the grats. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 713 Amount Saved: $156 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 2 Mins: 11 Seconds: 51

Well - I have one to share with you. I'm almost embarrassed to share this one, but if you promiss to laugh and not AT me, then i'll tell it. LOL Since I quit, i am now mostly over the bad bad craves, and i'm not so sick anymore, and I only break out in a cold sweat every once in a while. I'm really doing so muich better than the misserable gal I was a few days ago. Though, i am still having major problems in one area, and if it doens't show signs of improvement then i'm going to call the doctor tomorrow. It's with bleading.. My gums are bleading, and there's sores in the back of my mouth that are bleading, and yesterday.. my ears started bleading. I know this is because i had such limited blood flow to my extremeties for so long after smoking 3 packs per day and now I have it all of the sudden.. but i'm still starting to get a bit concerned and may need to see the doctor to feel better about it. So, on to the 'story' part of my story. LOL Last night I convinced myself that I had bugs in my ears. I told my husband, "Nicotine is a bug repelant, and now it's gone, and bugs got in my ears!!" Well, he laughed at me, and then I started crying so he quit laughing and told me that DDT was a bug repelant too and that we don't go inhaling that to keep bugs out of our ears. *nods* kk.. so I don't have any bugs in my ears then. ... just in case, i was thinking someone should get me some DDT. Addicts are full equipped with excuses I have now realized that. One of my friends told me he is going to quit so I say, don't be shy give me a call if the urges are too strong, we can stick together. answer: well I am not like you, I don't like to talk about it, when and if (notice) I quit smoking I will not tell a soul and do it on my own, besides I haven't set a date yet. Geez :)

You are quite a lady, Lady. I am sure you described the majority of us who also turned a blind eye to the horrors of smoking related illnesses. Thanks for the reminder.........it solidifies my resolve to quit! When I doubt my continued ability to quit, it helps to come here and read stuff like this. Thanks.

I can't believe all the lies I believed. Now that I do not smoke and can see the truth ... it is hard to believe that I ever smoked! Addiction to any drug makes it almost impossible to see reality. Because that is what drugs do, they alter it (reality). Misty Moon, Thanks for sharing your story with us but you are right to consult your doctor if the problem persists or worsens. Congratulations on 12 days! You're almost at the two week mark so start planning your reward. We look forward to celebrating this milestone with you. Danielle __________________________ The SSC Support Team
