I Know i need to exercise... But

17 years ago 0 140 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Ann - I too have gained since I quit. Actually, I had gained some of it before I quit. I'm exercising again, but it seems harder with the extra weight. I have disproved my crazy theory that smoking kept me slim. During the 25 years I smoked, there were only short periods where I was in really good shape - and that was with a lot of hard work and exericise. I lost 25 pounds with weight watchers 3 years ago, after I quit smoking the 1st time. I kept it off all this time. 15 working towards 20 are back on, in no time. But I wouldn't trade these pounds for a cigarette, that's for sure. I'd rather be like this than smoking. When you decide it's the right time, you'll know. Just like quitting smoking - the concept has to "click", and then you'll get going. Well done ANN... Congrats on taking a step to replacing an unhealthy attitude with a healthy one... Enjoy the walks with Hubby, they can be the best way of spending "quality" time together ever, and you are getting fit/losing weight at the same time... Just start slow. Go for a walk when the cravings hit. I ate a lot for about the first two weeks. Then I realized what I was doing and cut back. Quitting smoking still has the priority over losing weight, but I'm trying to be careful. Not that I have a solution, but you guys make me laugh. I thought I had the funniest story. Was smoking two packs a day, so you would assume that I have been saving lots of money. Someone on the board suggested that I reward myself. I pointed out that there have been no profits, because I have eaten them all. Oh Ann you are so not alone! And Darcy i got the same menu you do! Just munching away. I hope that out of the blue i am gonna get motivated to do something other then look at my pc. Ann i dont know about you but i have been kinda just blah lately. Maybe out of the blue we wake up ready to add this to the list of things to do. But for right now that 47 days smoke free looks really really good on you.....pat yourself on the back! Correen

Hi Ann, Let me just start out by telling you what I have eaten today and it is only after lunch... 1 small bag of popcorn 1 chocolate eclair 1 cream cheese danish 4 slices of pizza and a couple of handfuls of M&M's. It seems like in the last week or so, I have really been wanting to eat and I feel like you with no motivation. I talk about joining a gym when I am ready. I told my husband this morning that if I fell I would feel like a could just roll and roll and roll and roll. Maybe it has something to do with passing the month point. I refuse to get on the scale but I am sure I have gained close to 20 lbs by now. Until I am ready I will NOT get on a scale. Hubby was telling me this morning to get on and I asked him if he wanted me to go buy some cigs...I really feel if I validate how much I gained it won't be pretty!! So, for now just stay strong and do what you need to do to get over the smoking and then we will worry about our weight. Hi Ann, I too did nothing but eat when I stopped smoking and started to gain weight, started to walk every day before work at first I had to force myself to do it but now I look forward to the walks and I also slowly lost the weight that I had gained. Try it you may also learn to like it. Remenber a little weight can be lost, keep up the good work with your quit.
