Don't worry Grace, that wears off... I know. I live with a smoker and to be honest I no longer notice the smell (mind you I now have him shower before coming to bed to get rid of the smell....).

Hello everyone, As many of you know, I have recently moved into my new home. Well I've been very busy unpacking and putting things away, making it home. Most of my things have been stored in sealed bins for 3 years, when I pop the cover off most of the bins THE SMELL WILL JUST ABOUT KNOCK ME OVER. EVERYTHING STINKS OF SMOKE!! :gasp: I can't believe I never noticed how bad I must have smelled. All of my pictures have a gross film on them that is not easy to get off. My clothes that were packed away? I've washed them with the detergent with fabreeze in it, used fabric softener and dryer sheets and still have to wash them twice. The clothes that I wear often have been in my sister's room folded on shelves (she smokes in her room) are almost as bad because I bagged them up in plastic till I could get to them. Some of my things I have just had to toss away because there was no getting them clean. I am afraid to think what the inside of my lungs look like after smoking for 45 years :8o: If anyone out there is thinking about quitting smoking and you are afraid you might start again, I would suggest that you pack a few smokey things away in a sealed container and when you think about having that cigarette; just open the container and take a good wiff. If that doesn't stop you from lighting up I don't know what will!! Got to get back to my laundry. Love, Auntie :( My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/22/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 37 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,697 Amount Saved: $409.22 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 13 Mins: 17 Seconds: 36

The old olfactory sensation really kicks in after you quit, eh? The one thing I enjoy most is the increased taste and smell---the extra 20 lbs will attest to that! :gasp:

Hey Auntie, Isn't that smell annoying as all get out? We just moved to a new house... and the old owners smoked... I've had to throw every piece of drapery away... the carpets have been replaced, and I'm painting as quickly as I can, and I still catch that occassional lingering whiff of stale smoke... Talk about nausating! Congratulations on your quit. Cigarettes Not Smoked

The smell of a cigarette is intense. If I am in traffic and someone a car or two ahead of me is smoking - I can smell it! Has anyone else had that happen? I was floored when it happened. My nose works again! Damn! The other place it hits me hard is entering a store like Walmart - the ashtrays and smokers out front - PHEW! Gag me with a spoon man.... I too have clothes packed away - I'm going to check them when I get home tonight - I bet I can smell it on them....
