Umm... Bump, what are you thinking? I agree with Lady. Get rid of them ASAP!! Having them there will be tempting and much easier to have one when in bad situation. That's how I kept relapsing. I used to keep some just in case but for what??? We are here to never smoke again no matter what. We have to deal with things now as non-smokers. There is no reason why you should have that pack. Before when something bad happened and I wanted one so bad, by the time I drove to the store I didn't want one anymore. If I had a pack there, I would have been in big trouble. It would have been so easy for me to pick it up and smoked. No one said it would be easy but don't make it harder on yourself by keeping a pack at home. I cleaned out everything to make sure there were no traces of nicotine. In fact, nothing smells like smoke anymore:) Elle My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/28/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 51 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 515 Amount Saved: $127.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 15 Mins: 56 Seconds: 16

Bump, I agree with the others; if you are really serious about your quit, you don't need them, right? Hang in there, the first week is called "hell-week" for some reason :8o: Be strong, you can do this! Hi Bump, Your amre doing great! I'm glad that you that you tossed that pack away!. When you have a craving, take a deep breath; slowly inhale - keep the air in your lungs for a little while, and exhale slowly. Repeat 5-6 times and you will see how calm it will make you feel. Think about how all the poison (caused by cigarettes) leaving your body. This is a good thing! It's day two for me too. I can't buy a pack and keep it unopened. If I got a pack, it would be gone by 5 pm. That's how I got started after I quit for a month in January. I found a pack under the car seat, and that was that for three months. Good luck to ya we both have to keep hanging in there.

The bargaining process. How many times has that done me in? I can't count. I'll have just one. It won't hurt. Just one time. No one can tell me what to do I can smoke if I want to. This is one of my favorites. If I have a cig today, and none tomororow then I can have one, then wait two days and have another. Next time, I can wait three days and before you know it, I'll be quit! NAH doesn't happen that way. I can have one when I'm stressed and the next time I'm stressed, it will be easier to not have one. Where did THAT one come from! I can have half a cig and if no one sees me for two hours, I can have the other half. I can have half a cig in the morning and save the other half for before bed. I can think of more ways to have a cig that Mrs. Fields got cookies.

Bump... get rid of the smokes. Drown them and trash them. Drown them first because by the end of the day you will probably be digging through the trash for them. (been there, done that). Your quit is serious and you have to be serious with it. Be determined that you will not smoke no matter what. You don't need those cigarettes becuase you no longer smoke! N.O.P.E. is the only way to quit. Not One Puff Ever. Bump, Glad to hear you're doing better! That empty ashtray idea sounds like a good one! And just keep on with the water and the hard candy! You're doing so great! Congratulations on making it one more day! Crave the Quit! Hi, Bump. On the morning of my third day, I was a total basket case. Left work, went to the store, bought a pack. Came back to work, sliced them open with an Xacto knife, shredded them one by one all the while cursing them, Ol' Nic, the addiction, tobacco companies, and anything smoking related in general. I understand the desire to face your demon and stare him down. If you can do that, great. The problem is, though, if you can't you have the fixin's for failure within easy reach. It's much like a game of Russian Roulette where you think you can put just the right spin on the cylinder to land on an empty chamber. How confident are you that you can do that? You can do it 99.99999% of the time? What about that 0.00001%? When will it happen? How lucky do you feel? On a different site (a weight loss site), someone provided this suggestion for dealing with those voices. Hold your hand in front of you like a traffic cop and say "STOP! CANCEL!" And then put your own words in place, such as "I am getting healthier every minute and every day" or "I am not smoking today!" Good luck! Cigarettes Not Smoked

OK, the trophy is a worthy one indeed. However, you must immobilize the smokes just in case (make them unsmokeable). Soak them in a container of water and keep the clear container near you as a reminder. A stash is one of the dominate reasons for folks to restart the habit. It appears that the delay in getting a smoke is enough for most of us to realize how stupid we were about to be. As a point, days 3-5 are known to be the worst for withdrawals. Keep that in mind as you move forward. You see, quitting is easy if you work at it hard enough.
