DD, Hang in there, keep trying, you can defeat the nicodemon. Are you drinking lots of water? Especially drink the water when you are craving, in a way, it flushes the crave away. Deep breathing exercises also help a lot....inhale as deeply as you can just as if you were smoking....the oxygen is so much better though, you're body will figure that out pretty quick. Next time you think you are going to cave in, come in here and post FIRST not afterward. Then wait, while drinking water and breathing deeply, for at least 5 replies to your post. By that time, your craving will be gone and the replies will remind you to stay strong. Hang in there....you can do this Sheila ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/4/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 60 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,811 Amount Saved: $300 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 20 Mins: 38 Seconds: 57

Hi, DD. One of the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal is depression and you certainly sound depressed. I know you're on Wellbutrin and I know it is an anti-depressant, but it doesn't always work that way. As long as you are smoking one here and two there you are just going to draw this agony out. You'll just continue giving your brain enough nicotine to keep you in withdrawal and, therefore, depressed. That, I think, is the root of your problem. Just stop smoking altogther for 4 days until all the nicotine is out of your system, then see how you feel mentally. Yes, you will always be a nicotine addict. We all will be. But that doesn't mean we will always be miserable. The misery is just very brief compared to the rest of your life. You don't need anything shocking, new, or out of the ordinary. Drugs, NRTs, laser, acupuncture, hypnosis, etc. are all aids. They assist. They will not do it for you. What you need is good, old fashioned committment to quit smoking. Just do it! DD, I live with a smoker also. A committed smoker. A smoker who felt betrayed because I quit and almost left me. But guess what? I hung onto my quit. I told him he could leave if he wanted, but I would not go back. Guess what again? 15 months later we are still together. He is still smoking, I am still not smoking. You need to simply tell him to keep his cigarettes away from you and out of site. He may not be supportive of your quit, but he can do that much. I also found the mealtime trigger difficult for a couple of days. But you just get up from the table, clear the table, wash the dishes, go for a walk, whatever. Change your old routine. It doesn't take long for those triggers to go away, once your addictive self realizes you're not succumbing to them anymore. There are many quit smoking aids in the stores these days. There is a great deal of quit smoking information on the internet. You should become educated about quitting...it will help you a lot. Rusty

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

bla, bla, bla? Does that include getting rid of the cigarettes that you are smoking? The ashtrays? The matches? Does it include working the program tools? There is no such thing as immunity. Here are the two things you must have/do: 1. A fierce determination and desire to quit that you will protect and hold on to as if it were your infant child. 2. A fierce determination and desire to quit that you will protect and hold on to as if it were your infant child. Until you have that, you are making excuses for yourself. There is nothing shocking or new or out of the ordinary. There is only NOT SMOKING.
